Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology Tours

Leonardo da Vinci was born in Tuscany, but he spent a great deal of his life in Milan - which is why the wonderful Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology is located in the Lombardy capital.

This science museum is Italy’s largest, open since early 1953. One of the seven sections of the museum is dedicated to da Vinci. Other sections are about transportation, energy, and communication, among other things.

There are historic aircraft on display, as well as a steam train, and many of the exhibits are interactive - kids of all ages are encouraged to climb on some things and conduct their own tests in other areas. One section of the museum is even called, “Science for Young Children.”

The da Vinci section of the museum contains models of some of the master’s inventions, based on his drawings - including cars and his flying machine. Some of da Vinci’s original sketches are on display as well.
