Oslo Cathedral (Oslo Domkirke)

Stortorvet 1B, Oslo, 0155

The Basics

Oslo Cathedral is the main church for the Church of Norway Diocese of Oslo. Elements original to its construction include the pulpit, organ front, and altarpiece—a 1748 model ofThe Last Supper and the Crucifixion. Dating from the 1850s, the bazaar halls (Basarhallene) behind the cathedral periodically host markets and cafés. A variety of group and private tours of Oslo—including by bus, foot, and Segway—visit the cathedral as well as the city’s other top sights. Shore excursions generally also stop here. If traveling independently, book ahead for a guided tour of the cathedral.

Nice Introdiction to Oslo

Oslo Combo Tour: Grand City Tour and Oslo Fjord Cruise
We loved the Sculpture Park and the outdoor museum. The cruise was lovely, but extremely crowded. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity given for lunch in the 7 hours because of a competition on the ski jump. Time should have been allotted for food. Everyone was starving.

Outstanding Oslo Guide

Oslo Easy Walk 2 hours
Nina is an incredibly knowledgeable guide with insights into the culture, history, governance, and people of Norway. She is obviously highly intelligent and can speak authoritatively on many subjects. Due to the weather I had to cut the tour short. Nina was understanding and even walked us back to our hotel. I feel that I have a new friend in Oslo and hope to visit with her again.

Oslo Combo Tour: Grand City Tour and Oslo Fjord Cruise
Excellent guide, she made the tour more engaging by providing a lot of local and personal context. The cruise boat was small and crowded, but once on board, we enjoyed the sights around and it was tremendously fun. Vigeland park and the Fram museum were super.

The bus tour was really good. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he had a great sense of humor. The cruise was ok, a bit underwhelming.

Margaret was a wonderful guide. The volume for the narration through the earphones was not loud enough even at maximum volume.

The guide an older lady called Margaret was amazing. She said she’d been an Oslo guide since 1964 but had great fitness and energy.
