Olympic National Park is well known for having several different ecosystems to explore: subalpine forest, wildflower meadows, temperate rain-forest, and the rugged Pacific Shore. This twelve hour tour allows you to sample each of these systems with the added advantage of having an experienced guide to answer any questions that may arise. Come explore tide pools along the coastal beaches, roam among old-growth forest, trek atop mountain ridges with breathtaking vistas and stand by glacier-birthed rivers and lakes. The tour begins on a leisurely ferry boat ride over the Puget Sound to the Olympic Peninsula. Our first stop will usually find us at Hurricane Ridge where you will hike to an incredible view of the valley below and the snow-capped mountains in the distance. We will move on to Crescent Lake and the Sol Duc Valley, and time permitting, a sandy beach along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Please plan on approximately five miles of walking if you wish to follow along with the group.
The ancient forests, mountains, and rugged beaches of the Olympic National Park provide some spectacular hiking opportunities. On this tour, visit two of the most stunning natural spots—Hoh Rainforest and Rialto Beach—and enjoy short hikes at each destination. With round-trip transport, National Park fees included, and an optional packed lunch, everything is taken care of, so you can focus admiring the views.
This full day guided tour combines the beautiful subalpine terrain in the Olympic Mountains at Hurricane Ridge and the lush old-growth forests of Lake Crescent, hiking to Marymere Falls. The tour begins with a scenic 45 minute drive from sea-level in Port Angeles to 5,242 feet elevation at the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center. Atop Hurricane Ridge, the group can participate on a 2-3 mile guided hike led by our naturalist hiking guide and will have time for sightseeing and a picnic lunch after the hike. After lunch, the tour group will enjoy a scenic 1 hour 15 minute drive back down the mountain and west to Lake Crescent. There, the group can participate on a second 2-3 mile guided hike to Marymere Falls in the stunning old-growth forest that surrounds Lake Crescent. Both guided hikes are optional as there are shorter nature walks and indoor viewing areas at both Hurricane Ridge and Lake Crescent.
This tour has 3 different adventures. The mountain tops, waterfalls, and ferry ride. Usually this ends up as a private tour, but sometimes you will travel with 2 or 3 others. 5 maximum allowed. You travel in our comfortable 7 passenger SUV and your guide, also the driver, with talk with you about what you see along the way as well as when you get there. Magnificent mountains, rivers, and viewpoints await you. We have a trail walk at Marymere Falls, plus Madison Falls, and you get a ferry ride too! We stop lots for photos and breaks.
