Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm Tours

Korea might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think wool sweaters or sheep, but that’s what makes the Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm so interesting. Located in the hills of Pyeongchang County in Gangwon Province, the farm—the only one of its kind in South Korea—has housed wool-coated sheep since 1988.

Today, some 200 sheep roam the rolling green plains, creating an image reminiscent of an alpine village. Visitors can stroll a walkway surrounding the grazing field that is lined with oak trees and more than 30 varieties of wild flowers, or purchase a basket of hay to feed sheep in an indoor enclosure.

An on-site snack stand sells sheep kabobs, but the farm is also an excellent setting for a picnic lunch.

Practical Info

Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm is open throughout the year, but the summer grazing season (June to August) is the best time to visit.
