Humber Bay Park Tours

Humber Bay Park, created from two man-made peninsulas near Mimico Creek and Lake Ontario, is a popular recreation hub in Toronto. Park pursuits include bird-watching, biking, hiking, and photographing the CN Tower and Toronto skyline, as well as lounging at the sandy beach area and taking dogs to the off-leash park.

The Basics
Humber Bay Park West is a peaceful and relaxing respite from bustling downtown Toronto. Visitors and locals come to enjoy a picnic, go birdwatching (look for great egrets, red-tailed hawks, cormorants, geese, herons, and swans), or take your dog to the off-leash dog park. Cross the pedestrian bridge to Humber Park Bay East, where the marina and Humber Bay Butterfly Habitat are located—the latter with native wildflowers designed to attractive native butterflies.

Things to Know Before You Go
  • It’s free to visit Humber Bay Park.
  • Public restrooms are available at the park.
  • The mix of dirt and paved trails are ideal for runners, hikers, and bikers.

How to Get There
Humber Bay Park is situated on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Mimico Creek, southwest of downtown Toronto. If driving from downtown, take Gardiner Expressway west to Lake Shore Boulevard West, and then turn right on Humber Bay Park Road East. Paid parking is available at Humber Bay Park East. You can also take the 501 Queen Streetcar or the 665D Prince Edward Bus to Park Lawn Road.

When to Get There
Weather in Toronto is ideal and crowds are light in spring and fall, from late April through May and mid-September through mid-October. The park is busy on weekends, so arrive early for a parking spot. The best time to spot butterflies is on a warm, sunny day without much wind.

Photo Tip
Humber Bay is one of the best places in Toronto to shoot the sunrise, with the sun coming up just over the skyline, featuring the CN Tower and several other high-rise buildings that make up the iconic Toronto skyline featured in postcards and other popular images.
