What To Expect

Your day trip begins with pickup in Adelaide by coach for the drive with your guide across the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis, where you catch the ferry for a cruise across Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival, board another coach for your tour of the island.

Then begin your Kangaroo Island experience at Seal Bay Conservation Park to witness Australian sea lions lazing on the beach; take a coastal walk with a National Parks ranger for an up-close look at the colony. Continue to Vivonne Bay for a 2-course lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro, where picture windows and a deck provide opportunities to watch for koalas and kangaroos in the surrounding bush.

After lunch, visit Flinders Chase National Park on the rugged southwest coast of the island to walk among the granite boulders known as the Remarkable Rocks. See the rock archway known as Admirals Arch, admire Cape du Couedic and watch long-nosed fur seals as they play and relax.

Throughout your tour, hear about the history of Kangaroo Island and learn interesting facts about the animals from your knowledgeable guide. When your time on the island is up, head back to the ferry landing, watching for more kangaroos along the way, for your ferry ride back to the mainland.

Traveller Tips

It is a long drive to go to the island and by plane, it is only 20 min flight but it is more expensive.
Long day but worth it to see the island even though some attractions were off limits due to recent fires.
The water is calmer in the morning (can't really see much from the ferry so it's not like you whale watch, etc.

Not only seals but whales too.
Doreen_B, May 2022
It was a long day but being able to get so close to seals, with the bonus of seeing whales was amazing. The guide was local and very knowledgeable.

Very long day, lunch provided was disappointing and not what we paid for. No restaurants were open for dinner. Tour was overbooked on the day. Bus drivers were excellent, very friendly and knowledgeable.

Fantastic day on the spectacular island
Niamh_C, Apr 2022
An amazing way to see the best parts of Kangaroo Island in a day. Dave (our tour guide) was phenomenal. It was so good to hear so much about the island from a local. From the history to the everyday life. I would highly recommend this tour if you don’t have heaps of time but are keen to see Kangaroo Island!
really well organized tour.
Cecile_G, Apr 2022
This was an excellent tour from pick up to drop off there is no denying it was an extremely long day. On the island our bus driver guide Scott provided his time and great knowledge and importantly humor to introduce us to Kangaroo Island. On reflection five or 10 minutes less at each stop and a little bit more time at the animal sanctuary might have been nice but that’s been filthy. Generally a really well organized tour.

Our driver, Dave, provided us with an excellent service and had done an extra mile to stay until we have left KI. WE HIGHLY recommend him and this tour.

The tour guide was very informative, Seal Bay, where the sea lions put on a show, the Remarkable Rocks, nature's art work, and the wildlife sanctuary, where animals are being cared for.

Mina_K, Apr 2022
The trip was really good. We saw everything some people stayed overnight in a hotel in the Kangaroo's island but we came back to town. The only thing since there is no street lights at night I saw a lot of dead Kangaroos on the road because of hit and run.

The seals and the Remarkable Rocks were worth seeing. Sometimes you have to travel a bit further to see special sights. Fantastic!!

Incredible Island
Peter_T, Mar 2022
The whole day was terrific but for me the pinnacle was probably the time spent at The Remarkables and Admirals Arch. But the thing that really brought the day to life was the information shared by the guides. We learnt so much about the early settlers and colonials - many of their descendants are still on the Island today.
a great day on KI
Guy_D, Mar 2022
Sea lions, remarkable rocks and admiral arch. Finally holding a koala at the wildlife park, these animals are all rescued from the bush fires.

Everything that can be packed into one day on the island without feeling too rushed. Our tour guide, Hamish, was absolutely fantastic. Got to see seals and kangaroos up close, beautiful countryside and landmarks, and weather was perfect.
