Meet your pilot at Wynyard Quarter in central Auckland and board one of our 2 De Havilland Beaver 8 seater seaplanes for a memorable 20-minute flight over the Auckland Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf.
Expect the entire experience to last about 40 minutes in the aircraft including an exciting water take-off. Slip on the provided radio headset to hear your pilot’s narration, and peer down at the yachts dotting Auckland Harbour. Soar over the freshwater crater of Lake Pupuke en-route to the Hauraki Gulf. Gaze down at Rangitoto Island, Auckland’s youngest volcano, as your seaplane flies just 500 feet (150 meters) above the crater before continuing over Motutapu Island. Loop back towards the Auckland region by way of forested Motuihe Island, a recreational reserve that contains Maori archaeological artifacts, a historic cemetery and military installations from both world wars. Your pilot then passes close by Brown’s Island, one of the best-preserved volcanic craters in the Auckland Volcanic Field.
Your pilot points out city landmarks such as the Auckland Museum and the orbits the 1,076-foot (328-meter) Sky Tower before splashing down on the water next to the Harbour Bridge and taxiing back to shore, where your aerial tour ends.
