This full-day royal castle tour begins with a 4-hour drive south, from Frankfurt to the Bavarian foothills of Füssen, in an air-conditioned coach.
The first stop is Neuschwanstein Castle, a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace nestled on top of a rugged hill high above the village of Hohenschwangau, near Füssen, in southwest Bavaria. This stunning fairy tale palace was the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle and it’s one of the most popular of all the castles or palaces in Europe, drawing 1.4 million visitors each year. Skip the typically long lines to get inside and enjoy a walking tour of this medieval masterpiece. Learn about the castle’s architect, King Ludwig II of Bavaria, and explore the gardens outside as well.
Then continue by coach for a walking tour of the Linderhof Palace, about an hour away in Ettal. Linderhof was inspired by the King Ludwig’s visits to the Palace of Versailles in France. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by the king and the only one which he lived to see completed. Even so, the palace and surrounding park together are one of the most artistic and stylistically complex ensembles of the 19th century — and a sight to behold.
The tour ends with a return journey to Frankfurt.

Great places to visit. Highly recommend you be in good shape to walk to the castle. It is a long uphill walk but worth it. The trip really would have been better to start sooner because of the long drive or split the 2 tours. The time spent at each place was really too short. I will probably go revisit each to spend more leisure time to enjoy them. Also, the provided lunch is just pre-made sandwiches and water you had 2 options. Recommend you bring additional fruit and snacks like we did. The guide did give us great information during the drive and stopped to be sure we saw areas of interest. He even stopped to place the castle in the backdrop and took photos of each person/ family with the castle in view.

The trip is a very long one and the van used to transport the tourists was not comfortable for this trip. It provided no arm or leg rests. The stops were few and made at gas stations along the way that offered almost exclusively junk food the company only provided one sandwich and one bottle of water for this extra long day trip The tour company made us pay Euro 1.80 extra bus fare to take us up to the Neuschwanstein castle. I thought this was really cheap on their part, especially after the amount of money each tourist paid to get on this excursion.
