The expedition begins with morning pickup at the Belize City port and a drive north of around 1 hour to reach the ruins of Altun Ha. Learn about the history of this ancient Mayan city that dates back thousands of years and is famous as the discovery site of one of Belize’s national treasures, a large jade stone carving of the Mayan Sun God. Explore the ruins of palaces and plazas by foot, and climb to the top of one of the tallest ceremonial pyramids for fantastic views of the surrounding coastal plains.
After touring the archaeological site, head to the nearby town of Hattieville and climb into a 4x4 Jeep to begin your off-road adventure. Pass through the village of Gracyrock and into the surrounding rainforest, cruising across rugged tracks to reach a remote cave.
After exploring captivating rock formations with your guide, relax with a Belizean-style picnic by a nearby river, where you can take a refreshing swim in the water before the return journey to Belize City.
