Begin your BASE flying experience at the Hotel Park Inn near Alexanderplatz. You can pick between several different afternoon and late-morning start times.
Before taking your ‘flight,’ you’ll first receive a short safety briefing and sign the necessary declaration forms confirming your physical fitness for the flight. You’ll then put on a special climbing harness, which will be attached to a grid winch system formed with a collection of ultra-strong steel ropes. The experience is often called ‘BASE flying’ because participants will fall in a horizontal (rather than vertical) position to the ground.
As you’re raised more than 400 feet (125 meters) above the ground, you’ll feel the adrenaline pounding in your chest. At the moment of truth, a staff member will trigger the winch release mechanism, sending you free falling toward earth at high speed. Feel free to let out a cathartic scream of terror (or joy) as you plummet.
Just at the last second before you think you’re going to hit the ground, the winch will automatically begin to decelerate your fall, stopping you with plenty of room to spare. You’ll return safely to solid ground, heart still pounding from your daredevil adventure in the skies above Berlin.
