Overview

On this exciting Kona submarine tour, dive deep below the cobalt waters just off the Kona coast, where an entire world of fish and marine creatures is waiting just below the surface. As the submarine descends towards the colorful reef, peer through the portholes at fish that swim to within inches of the submarine windows, and experience the sense of peace and calm in this world beneath the waves. This is a great way to explore underwater without even getting your hair wet, and, if you’re very lucky, there’s even the chance you could see a passing shark.
  • Hawaii Atlantis Submarine Kona Dive
  • Unique views of Hawaii's colorful marine life
  • Professional narration
  • Option to include hotel pick-up and drop-off
Thanks to the volcanic lava rock that filters the rainfall and runoff, the water here on the Kona coast is some of the clearest in Hawaii. On this enthralling Kona submarine tour, explore the clear waters and colorful reefs just off of the Kona coast, where schools of tropical reef fish flit above patches of sand and through caves.

You’ll see all types of tropical marine life on this Big Island submarine tour, from schools of small manini, or convict tang, to larger fish such as the big-eyed emperor fish that slowly cruise above the reef.

This Atlantis Submarine Kona Adventure has been featured in National Geographic television shows, and explores the ocean just off the coast to depths of 100 feet (30 meters). For the entirety of the 50-minute underwater journey, you can relax in comfort in the air-conditioned sub that only holds 48 people, and casually watch through the circular portholes as fish go swimming right by.

A great way to experience undersea for those who cannot scuba or snorkel. We have some amazing pictures and had a great time with the crew.

This was my second Atlantis submarine ride. It is a thrill to go down in a sub. It felt very safe. The crew was delightful and pointed out things to see. Each person had access to a large porthole for viewing. This is a good option for those of us that do not dive or snorkle. We dove to a depth of approx. 100 ft, Unfortunately, at that level, everything looks blue! You do not see the pretty colors of the fish or of the coral. I wish they had used exterior lighting to offset the blue coloring. Friends that are divers, use lighting for that purpose. For that reason, I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.

it was hard to understand what the captain was saying over the intercom and we were packed in the seats like sardines

When we booked this tour, we thought it was a bit expensive, but we're on vacation and life is short. It was worth the cost. Neither of our party are great swimmers, so to be able to see the reef and fish in their natural environment was wonderful. The shipwrecks were also very interesting. Our guides were informative and helped make the experience memorable unfortunately, I am bad with names and have forgotten his name. Thanks for making our first trip to Hawaii even more terrific!

It was a great experience. For medical reasons, the wife and I are unable to get in the water, but the submarine adventure allowed us to get down to the reef and see many different species of fish including a shark and barracuda. The guide that traveled with us was knowledgeable and had a great personality. The support staff was helpful and ensured we were able to get in and out of the sub safely. The equipment was all first rate and seemed safe. Unless you are planning on scuba diving, it was simply a great way to experience the reef, and I highly recommend it.

This tour was very good. I saw more sea life than when I did the trip in Honolulu but this was due to the location.

I took Carol on this because she doesn't snorkle and this was a chance to see some beautiful fish. We did see some fish but the viewing windows are quite thick and also due to the depth, a lot of the colors were lost.
Over all an ok trip but not outstanding.

Great crew. Fun and informative. I would still rather scuba, but this was an easy, dry, different way to go 100 ft under the ocean.
