Experience for yourself the many things Hawaii is so famous for — volcanoes, beautiful waterfalls, fern jungles, rainbows, and who could forget, macadamia nuts.
Get picked up at your Hilo hotel between 10:45am and 11am. Then, set out on your 8.5-hour journey to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in an air-conditioned minivan or bus.
Get excited to see volcanoes, lava beds, steam vents, and volcanic craters, all while listening to local legends about how these natural phenomena came about. Stop at Kilauea, one of Hawaii’s most active volcanoes and snap some pics — especially if you’re lucky enough to see steam rising on your visit.
Head over to the Jaggar Museum and the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory to learn more about volcanoes and their super-powerful natural strength. Walk your way through the 500-year-old Thurston Lava Tube, and stand in the same place where molten lava flowed years ago.
Other stops include Richardson Beach Park, Rainbow Falls, Kilauea Iki Overlook, and the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory (only open weekdays). After your tour ends, get back to your hotel between 7:30pm and 7:45pm.
