Hidden Budapest Walking Tour (3 Hours)
Your tour begins inside the Absolute Tour Center, located on Lázár Street just behind the Hungarian State Opera House. During the stroll to your first destination, your guide provides insightful information rarely found in guidebooks

First, explore Budapest’s thriving Jewish quarter, home to one of Europe’s oldest synagogues, and hear tales of the Jewish community’s turbulent history. In Gozsdu courtyard, you’ll be met with an array of shops and bars, housed in formerly derelict buildings and favoured by locals.

Next, amble along Rakóczi Avenue to admire that bespoke boutiques and ambient cafes that neighbour a historical hospital. Delve into the history of the Soviet uprising in the Palace Quarter, and then conclude your tour near Central Market Hall after three hours of exploration.

The tour can be done in 2 consecutive days.

Budapest City Walking Tour (3 Hours)
At the Hungarian State Opera House, greet your guide and descend to the metro in order to travel to Budapest City Park (Városliget), an expansive park replete with monuments.

At the park’s entrance is Heroes’ Square (Hosok Tér), a UNESCO-listed landmark filled with statues of notable Hungarian leaders. Capture photographs of the monuments and then stroll through the park to Vajdahunyad Castle, built in 1896 as part of the Millennial Exhibition.

See, too, the colorful Szechenyi Bath before returning to central Budapest on the metro. From here, you’ll absorb the neoclassical splendor of St. Stephen’s Basilica and revitalise with a hot drink and two Hungarian pastries in a local café.

Refreshed, amble along cobbled streets to Vaci Street, and the Danube Promenade. Your tour concludes in Buda Castle District, where you’ll have the opportunity to take in the view from Fisherman’s Bastion.

We split these tours into two days because of the weather. Our guides were excellent and the tours were exactly what we wished for. We took the first tour on our first full day in Budapest and it gave us an excellent introduction to the Old Town. The only way to get a real feel for the city is to walk the streets with a local. We enjoyed it immensely.
