Return Details

Returns to original departure point
After boarding your deluxe boat, which seats a max of 100 people, including your experienced guides, your Great Barrier Reef day trip starts with the boat ride from Cairns out to the reef—one of the fastest rides from Cairns, with just more than an hour of cruising time.

Depending on the weather and water conditions on the day of your tour, your guides will head to one of 12 exclusive moorings at six reef locations, providing you with the best possible on-the-water experience that day. Most likely, you’ll visit one of the Outer Great Barrier Reef spots like Saxon Reef or Norman Reef in the morning, and then continue to North Hastings Reef in the afternoon.

Upon arrival at your first location, hop in the water with your provided snorkeling equipment for a look at multicolored fish, coral and other marine life. Instruction is provided for beginners, and your knowledgeable crew members are on hand to encourage and help you, if needed. Then snorkel again at your second location. If you’d rather not get wet, you can still check out this World Heritage–listed underwater world on a tour by semi-submersible vessel (own expense; payable on the day of your tour).

During your time on the barrier reef you can refuel with an onboard buffet lunch of Australian barbecue items such as fresh fish, sausages and steak, plus a selection of pastas, salads and prawns. On the return trip to Cairns, snack on a platter of cheese and fruit while members of your talented crew provide live music and entertainment to celebrate the end of your day on the sea.

Lovely sight seeking out in the reef

Real friendly tour group! We got to go on a tour in November 2020, so the boat was only had full, which was awesome and unique for us. It’s a large boat with great amenities, and they’re able to take you further out onto the reef than a smaller tour would. So happy to see all the colorful fish and coral! I can only imagine what the reef looked like in its prime, but I still saw more amazing underwater life up close than ever before. The one big downside is that the ship is so large and going over such choppy surf that nearly everyone on our boat got sea sick out the back. But the crew offer you anti-nausea meds at the beginning of the trip. Do yourself a favor: Take them!!

Besides the fact that I underestimated how sea sick I would get, it was an overall beautiful day and the staff were great and very helpful.

Two words, Absolutely Brilliant.. The Staff, the Vessel and the food etc was all exceptional. Very highly recommended, can not give any higher praise for the whole end to end journey.. I have dived all up the QLD Coastline, the Cairns outer reef is by far the best coral and a good array of fish species (not necessarily the volume of other locations).. Overall a great experience. Regards, Gary.

I’d like to say from the get go my partner and I felt safe and most importantly felt welcomed by every single team member on the boat. The lunch provided was more than I expected as they provided such a variety of salads, fish and even steak. The day ran perfectly and on time. We definitely recommend this tour if anyone is visiting cairns.
