Why Travellers Choose This Tour
This tour includes options for both first-time and certified divers at two Great Barrier Reef dive sites.
After boarding your deluxe boat, which seats a max of 100 people, including your experienced guides, your Great Barrier Reef day trip starts with the boat ride from Cairns out to the reef—one of the fastest rides from Cairns, with just more than an hour of cruising time. Depending on the weather and water conditions on the day of your tour, your guides will head to one of 12 exclusive moorings at six reef locations, providing you with the best possible on-the-water experience that day. Most likely, you’ll visit one of the Outer Great Barrier Reef spots like Saxon Reef or Norman Reef in the morning, and then continue to North Hastings Reef in the afternoon. Upon arrival at your first location, hop in the water with your provided snorkeling equipment for a look at multicolored fish, coral and other marine life. Instruction is provided for beginners, and your knowledgeable crew members are on hand to encourage and help you, if needed. Then snorkel again at your second location. If you’d rather not get wet, you can still check out this World Heritage–listed underwater world on a tour by semi-submersible vessel (own expense; payable on the day of your tour). During your time on the barrier reef you can refuel with an onboard buffet lunch of Australian barbecue items such as fresh fish, sausages and steak, plus a selection of pastas, salads and prawns. On the return trip to Cairns, snack on a platter of cheese and fruit while members of your talented crew provide live music and entertainment to celebrate the end of your day on the sea.
Had a fun day. However, Scuba diving Introductory would have been better if they allotted more time to practice before the real diving especially for first timers. It didn't work well for me due to some difficulty and the group had to leave me. But overall it was good. Snorkeling was fun. Instructors were very clear with the orientations. It was a sunny, safe, fun-filled, coral reef adventure .
The weather started off cloudy and rainy, and the water was choppy, but by the time we made it to the second site, the sun had come out and the waters calmed.
The crew made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish, though. I’d definitely book this cruise again!
Awesome Boat. Great Experience on the Reef. Safety, Number 1 Priority.

We went on a day where only 90 passengers were on-board and it was awesome. I could see how this boat could get crowded when they are at their 150 max occupancy. However, 90 was absolutely perfect. The amount of time we got at the reef and two spots were more than adequate. You even have enough time to jump out, relax, and jump back in. Lunch provided was not good. That would be our only complaint. Better off grabbing something and packing it in your bag. Ride to the reef is choppy! However, if you know you get sick then please opt for the meds before you head out. There's a lot of bad reviews on people getting sea sick but in my personal opinion that's on the individual. They have lots of resources available to keep people from getting sick and stuff for when you do. Please use them and not complain. When they asked people who gets motion sickness, nobody opted for meds, and plenty of people got sick. Don't be that person. The captain will not slow the boat down because you can't handle the boat. I do recommend this trip for anyone really wanting to see the reef. The reef is dying every year so take gander while you can. There was plenty of evidence of coral bleaching! Staff was absolutely wonderful, accommodating and friendly. Would book again!
Friendly staff, loved the snorkelling, great new equipment would definitely recommend. The catamaran was amazing views all day with entertainment on the way back. Lots of clean ammenities and plenty of extras
My family and I were in Cairns and opted to take the day tour and had a splendid time. Great staff, punctual service and detailed guidance! Would definitely suggest and vouch for the tour and operators. Great going, folks!
Had a great time! The Reef was beautiful. The lunch spread was awesome (was expecting just little snacks, but there was tons of choices). The crew was very friendly and helpful.
My only suggestion- take something to prevent motion sickness before hand!!
It was a lot of fun! The ride there was bumpy, but that was the ocean's fault, not the company's! The reef locations were really nice and colourful and there was live music on the way back. Staff were friendly and one even came to personally give us info about the reef!!! Highly recommend.
The staff was very attentive and professional. I highly recommend for the beginner diver and anyone that likes to snorkel. My nephew just received his diving certification and I felt very comfortable with the safety practices of the staff.
The Down Under Dive team, vessel and snorkeling experience were all great. The team was helpful and friendly, the vessel was spacious and clean, and the snorkeling was enjoyable. The only major letdown was the quality of food onboard. The lunch buffet was underwhelming and did not taste great...the steak especially was extremely tough and not seasoned at all. Utensils were also lacking, so people were grabbing slices of bread, cubes of cheese, etc with their bare hands.
