Meet up with your group and guide in the evening at Chania’s Municipal Market, transferring to the European Sustainability Academy located in the Cretan village of Drapanos. The area is known for having some of the best night sky viewing conditions on the island.
Arrive at the academy and enjoy an included glass of organic wine as you tilt your head upward for views of distant constellations, planets and the Milky Way. Using a combination of the naked eye and telescope, your astronomer host will explain what you’re looking at, and provide tips on how to recognize different celestial sights. You’ll also learn about the how the Mediterranean’s ancient cultures incorporate the stars into mythology.
After filling your head with astronomy knowledge, it’s time then to fill your stomach with a delicious meal. Enjoy a Minoan-style three-course meal prepared using ceramic pots in the island’s traditional slow cooking style. A variety of Cretan dishes, including both meat and vegetarian options, are available. Best of all all ingredients have been locally-sourced and raised on Crete. When you finish your meal you’ll receive a transfer back to Chania and a drop-off at your hotel.
