Then observe endangered North Island brown kiwis and South Island kiwis— flightless birds native to New Zealand.

  • Visit the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and see native Kiwi's in their natural habitat
  • Enjoy a Maori concert filled with song, dance and the haka!

  • Hotel pickup and drop off from Christchurch
After pickup from your Christchurch accommodation, you’re transferred to the Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, site of the Ko Tane Maori cultural experience. Start your engaging evening with a greeting ceremony as you listen to the powhiri (conch) and participate in hongi (pressing of noses).
At Ko Tane marae, a makeshift Maori village, watch an entertaining performance consisting of waiata ringa (action songs with a hand display), poi dances and haka (war dances).
After the concert, enjoy the opportunity to observe New Zealand's iconic kiwi bird in its natural habitat. Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is the only privately owned reserve in the world where these endangered native species can be viewed in the open.
Your 2.5-hour experience ends with return transport to your hotel.

The kiwi enclosure was closed during the day due to flooding, but we were lucky enough to have it opened up for us on this tour.
We loved seeing and learning about the native animals.
The Maori concert was both educational and entertaining. Our daughter even had the opportunity to hop on stage and participate in a traditional dance!!

It would have been better if at least the actors looked like Maori. We attended something similar on the north island a few years ago and it was much more original. Too much effort trying to get audience participation.

Funny and kind of kitschy. Did not do the dinner and glad we did not. The wildlife was interesting and the girl who did the tour was full of good info about the birds of New Zealand.

This was fairly entertaining and instructive. The lighting outside was too low to take decent photos and the kiwis were almost impossible to see in the dark (OK, they are nocturnal but some red lights could help!). The dancing and singing were good, as were the stick-swapping and ball-twirling.

Excellent tour! A must do while in Christchurch. Good value for money. Bus driver did a city tour as well on the way back to the hotel.

My daughter and I really enjoyed the concert and found it very interesting plus a bit of fun as well. The kiwis were fascinating as were all the other animals. Thank you for an informative and enjoyable evening.

What a wonderful show! It was a little disappointing that we couldn't take pictures of the show itself. However, the entire experience was definitely worth it. Thank you!
