We tried the Blue Cave and Vis Culinary Day trip from Hvar and it was a superb experince.
Meeting up with guide at the marina went effortlessly and we were taking to our boat which served as our base for the day.
The trip primarily evolves around visiting the marvelous scenery and beaches of Vis and the Paklinski Islands, by boat. You get heaps of opportunity to swim and cool down at the different beaches.
Our guide I believe his name was Ivan was great fun, and had a vast knowledge of the different sites and areas on and around Hvar and the other islands.

A visit to Blue Cave is also included in the trip, and while it was a beautiful experience to see the cave, going to the caves in high season we went in late July would result in some waiting as there are tons of other people here.
If you go for this trip, be sure to take the included lunch and wine tasting that was an additional option for this trip.

Those of us that had opted for the lunch were dropped of at a small harbour on Vis and escorted by car, with our guide inland, to an extremely cosy and local restaurant called Roki's. Here the main attraction was their local food Peka / Podpeka which is prepared by slow-cooking meat or fish on an open fireplace in large cast iron pots/pans. We went for the meat option, which has to be ordered in advance due to the long cooking process, and it was delicious and amazingly tender and by far the best meal we had on our trip to Croatia.
The setting was perfect and the owner of the restaurant was welcoming and eager to tell us about their production of wines which they also produce at their own little winery. The wine served as a good match for the food we were served.

All in all this trip a perfect way to experience Vis and the more secluded beaches that would otherwise be hard to reach by foot and from Hvar itself.
Don't expect to have the beaches and sights all to yourselves if you are traveling in high season, but thats just the way it is.

Be sure not to have a strict time schedule when going on this trip, as the duration of the trip might be longer than anticipated due to high number of other guests at the beaches/caves and any other unforeseen weatherly events that would make it harder for the boat to make it back in time.

Blue cave and green cave were excellent! Unfortunately we didn't swim, so can't comment much about the bays and islands we visited as part of the trip. The food peka was one of the best dishes we've tasted in Croatia during our 3 week holiday. We had the Octopus peka. The natural juices were infused into the potatoes, carrots and rice in the peka and every single element in that dish was heavenly!! Lunch comes with 5 different wines. If you enjoy good food and good wine, this tour is for you. Good scenery and swimming for the other parts of the day. Our skipper and guide husband and wife team were also helpful and good.
