Discover the highlights and hidden gems of Abu Dhabi on a private 8-hour trip from Dubai. Tour the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and see other showpieces including the Emirates Palace as you learn about the city’s history and culture. Plus, admire the wooden ‘dhow’ boats at the Dhow Harbour, explore the Date Market, and see Yas Island’s futuristic Viceroy Hotel, built over Yas Marina and the Formula I racetrack. Dubai hotel pickup and drop-off included.
  • Private 8-hour tour of Abu Dhabi from Dubai
  • Drive through the UAE desert to Abu Dhabi, the UAE capital
  • Visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to see its marble domes, minarets, and arcades
  • Pass the luxury Emirates Palace hotel and enjoy an Arabic lunch (own expense)
  • Admire the wooden 'dhows' at the Dhow Harbour and shop at the Date Market
  • See the visionary Viceroy Hotel and Formula I Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island
  • Private transport by air-conditioned minivan, with Dubai hotel pickup and drop-off included
Depart your Dubai hotel by private, air-conditioned vehicle, and travel south through the desert to Abu Dhabi.

On route, listen as your guide shares snippets on Abu Dhabi’s history and architecture. Learn how the city grew from a small port in the early 1900s to today's gleaming metropolis in just a few decades.

Head first for Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the world’s largest mosques. Step out here and enjoy a guided tour of this modern Islamic masterpiece, with its glittering white domes, minarets, and courtyards. Admire the Mamluk-, Ottoman- and Fatimid-inspired architecture, and view the opulent main prayer hall, home to what’s considered to be the world’s largest Persian carpet and third-biggest chandelier.

Pass the 7-star Emirates Palace hotel, one of Abu Dhabi’s best-known landmarks, and savor a delicious Arabic lunch (own expense) at Tarbouche, a traditional souk restaurant.

Next, call at the Dhow Harbor, one of Abu Dhabi’s oldest areas. Sit at the waterside to admire the wooden dhows against a backdrop of glittering high-rises, and learn how these boats have been used for centuries to carry merchandise around the Arabian Gulf.

Continue to the Date Market and trawl the stalls selling different varieties of fresh dates from wooden barrels. Sample the juicy wares as you browse, and perhaps purchase some (own expense) as gifts.

Then, travel to Yas Island, the man-made entertainment island just outside the city. Visit Yas Marina and admire the futuristic Viceroy Hotel, built to span the water and the Formula I Yas Marina Circuit.

Marvel at the hotel's steel-and-glass roof canopy, and get a glimpse of the racetrack: with luck, you might spot cars practising on the circuit.

Finally, return to Dubai and get recommendations for places to visit here before ending your tour with a hotel drop-off.

Private Tour: Multicultural Tastings of Dubai | Mar 2020
Lucy was an excellent tour guide. Not only did she fill us with knowledge and good food, but she taught us how to use the metro system, and gave us lots of insider tips on shopping and getting the most of our time in Dubai. I would highly recommend this tour, and highly recommend Lucy.

Private Ultimate Layover Tour of Dubai | Feb 2020
Melwyn is an outstanding guide! He has vast and deep knowledge of Dubai history and culture, economics, society and politics and he conveys this information in superb English and boundless enthusiasm. He makes Dubai fascinating! He has created a tour that shows that there's much more to Dubai than tall buildings, though he did an excellent job of showing me them too, timing our tour to make sure we arrived on site in time to see the LED light show on the world's tallest building and the "better than the Belagio" fountain display. Dubai has an interesting history, and Melwyn ensured that I experienced it--through seeing the Dubai History Museum, original fort/settlement wall, and traditional houses and buildings. The ferry boat ride across "the Creek" and Camel milk ice cream were a special treat--truly Dubai as the locals live. He also knows all the best places for photos! While he has an excellent itinerary planned, he is also extremely accommodating and willing to tailor the tour to your interests in advance or on the spot. His SUV is new and very comfortable; he is an expert driver. I highly recommend him--his tour is definitely great value for money. He will absolutely be in charge of any future trip I make to Dubai.

Dubai Private Food Tour Including 10 Tastings | Jan 2020
This was a very enjoyable tour. The food tastings were good, interesting, and of a nice variety. They also provided nice insight into the history and culture of Dubai. Manish was an excellent guide with great communication and knowledge that he enjoyed sharing. Not only do you get to have the food experience, we also enjoyed the abra boat ride and the guided tours of the Spice and Gold Souks.

Hard Trail of Old Dubai with an Emirates

The Origin of Dubai Private Walking Tour | Sep 2019
Previsit acquintance of the guide is important and Kassim accommodate us to a tee. The visit was informative from social, cultural and architectural history. Places of interest were all within walking distance from on foot to boat ride, through the history of UAE establishment from the eyes and passion of the Emirates.Pity that it was a holiday -Muharram, for we could at least seep Emirates coffee or looking around within the internal spaces of the different residential traditional buildings. The visit of the wind tower and the understanding of how it works and where they are normally located in a home is an eye opener. Although quite sad that all old traditional spaces has been spruced up for tourism and lost its traditional lustre, the presence of this charming areas that support the conitinuum of the local businesses is good economics and social sustainability. We thank Karim for taking beyond his time to aquiant us with his home town and wish for more walking trips to meet real people that make the place.

The Origin of Dubai Private Walking Tour | May 2019
Vibha was amazing! It was like strolling around with a friend. As she had lived in some of the areas in old Dubai, she really knew her stuff and was very informative and knew the secret tricks for where to go. Had an amazing time at the spice souks and got some wonderful things to take home. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to see Old Dubai and the souks. Very cultural experience.

Not as described. We didn't get...

Dubai Private Food Tour Including 10 Tastings | Apr 2018

Not as described. We didn't get anything close to 10 tastings/stops. We walked through the gold souk, then on to the spice souk where we finally had our first tasting of a date dipped in camel milk chocolate. Then we had camel milk ice cream and took an abra across Dubai Creek to a food market area. OK, halfway through our tour and we think we're finally going to get to taste some local specialties. Nope. Our first stop is at a food stand called Bombay Times for some type of spicy/sweet puri. No real description or explanation of what we are tasting. Then we stop at a place for a falafel sandwich. Then we are handed a coffee or tea. And then off to our last stop for a camel burger, where the guide proceeded to pick french fries off our plate. Then the guide sent us off in taxis. That was our entire 3 hours. If you count the coffee/tea.. that's maybe 6 tastings... no visit to a restaurant to try the Middle Eastern favorites... no 'fresh prawns cooked in spices'... no 'stuffed vine leaves'. No visit to a Coffee Museum, and did not see any historically costumed staff or learn about this age-old beverage. The guide had nothing meaningful to say about any of the food that we tasted. Terrible food tour. Half our group went back to the hotel to have a decent meal to fill their empty stomachs. Maybe we should have something while on the tour, but honestly, I didn't print out the 'what you can expect' page, and didn't know what we were missing until we got back and re-read the tour description. I trusted the tour to deliver the experience I booked. At the end of the day, customers should not have to be the watchdogs of any tour.. it is the responsibility of the tour guide to deliver what is described.

Dubai Private Food Tour Including 10 Tastings | Nov 2017

Excellent tour with very personable guide. You get a local insider's view of the best food and locations to eat it while getting a real feel for the central area of Dubai around the Creek. I defy most people not to be full after the first few tastings though.
