Be ready for pickup at your hotel in Dunhuang prior to the 9am departure time. With your guide and small group, step aboard an air-conditioned minivan and set out for the Mogao Caves. Once you arrive, watch an hour-long film about the history of the caves, then start exploring. Walk through the largest cave, known as Number 96, as well as Cave Number 17, where a treasure trove of Buddhist manuscripts were found.
Back in the van, head to the Singing Sand Dunes, famous for the sound the wind makes whipping over the mountain of sand. Experience a camel ride through the dunes and hike to the mountain top for panoramic views, including a peek at the Crescent Spring Lake. Continue down the side of the dune on your camel, learning about the gradually shrinking Crescent Lake.
Finish up around 5pm with drop-off back to your accommodations.
