Spend a day in the Tuscan countryside with this 6.5-hour day trip from Florence to San Gimignano and the Chianti area, including a wine tasting.
  • 6.5-hour day trip from Florence to San Gimignano and Chianti area
  • Visit the towns of Greve in Chianti and San Gimignano, among others
  • Tour a wine estate and enjoy a wine tasting
  • Sit down to lunch at a farm outside San Gimignano
Meet your driver in the historic heart of the city at 9:00am and depart in a comfortable vehicle for a day in the Tuscan countryside.
Travel along the winding Chiantigiana Road into the picturesque hills. The first stop is Greve in Chianti, where you'll have a brief 15-minute stop to snap some pictures and check out the town square.
Continue on to a small wine estate for a tour of the vineyards and wine cellars before sampling three of the estate's wines and olive oil. The estate produces eco-friendly Chianti and Super Tuscans, and what you taste will depend on what's available that season.
Stop for photo-ops in the towns of Montefioralle and Badia a Passignano. Learn a few things about each village from your driver. The next stop is San Gimignano, the hilltop town famous for its many towers. Enjoy a 40-minute stop to explore on your own before the tour continues on to a nearby farm not far from San Gimignano. Admire the farm's historic farmhouse, including an ancient watchtower.
Relax at the farm over a light lunch, followed by a chance to sample some of the products produced right there – as well as some other typically Tuscan goodies chosen by the guide.
Travel back to Florence at the end of the day, where you'll be returned to the place where you met your guide.

This tour was amazing! A full day visiting local villages in the Chianti area and stopping by two local wineries. It ended up being a private tour for me and my mom. Chiara, our guide, was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the villages, being a local she was very flexible and took us to some of her favorite local and scenic spots throughout the day. She also made sure we didn't miss any great photo opportunities! I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for a local Tuscany experience!!

Lucinda was a marvelous guide. Her command of the English language was very much appreciated. She was so knowledgeable about the area. It turned out that my daughter and I were the only two on the your so it was private in that respect. We were not disappointed with anything we booked through Viator.

My mom and I booked this tour, and to our luck it was only us! We had the most amazing day in Tuscany. Saw beautiful sights, learned a lot and were able to stop and taking pictures of the incredible views. The food was spectacular! Loved visiting a small family run vineyard where we had a chance to learn a bit about the process and chat with the owner. We brought home some of her amazing jam to enjoy at home. Thank you for the wonderful day!

Best tour ever. No one else on tour so ended up being a private tour. 5 stars. Luciana, the guide was the best. Most informative and friendly and took us to great spots for fantastic views. All views were fantastic. Every stop we made was fantastic. The best was the stop at the winery where only another couple were there from another tour. Visited with owners, who were awesome. Wine is great as well. No reason to look for other tours as this is the best. As I said Guide Luciana was fantastic, as well as Simone. Go here. Don't waste time and miss out on a fantastic tour by going someplace else....

When I think of Italy now, this will be the first thing I'd think of! Alessio was a very knowledgeable tour guide. He's patient with us and he drives very safely. The wineries we went to were amazing and had great wines (very affordable if you'd think of shipping). The lunch was also very good!

My husband and I loved this tour! We luckily happened to be the only ones on this particular day. Our guide Luciana was truly an expert in the Renaissance and was a wonderful guide to spend the day with. She was accompanied by a guide in training, Guisseppi a friendly young man. We visited 2 organic wineries where we learned about and tasted various Chiantis, a rose and a white wine. We also snacked at one winery and ate a delicious lunch at the other. One highlight of the day for me was visiting an old monestry that had an original medieval kitchen that looked unchanged for 600 years. This monestry also had a beautiful painting of the Last Supper and stunning coloured glass work in the doors. We also visited 2 villages including San Gimignano where Luciana pointed out the sights and had us taste a truffled cheese and wild boar salami. We climbed up to a high vantage point to take in the stunning views of the Tuscan landscapes. Luckily for us it was a sunny, warm day, truly a day we will never forget. Thank you Luciana!

Great trip and knowledgeable tour guide. Wish we had more time in San Gimignano. 20 minutes was not enough time. This tour should be extended by an additional hour or more.
