Meet your personal driver-guide at your central Fujairah hotel, and settle inside your private, air-conditioned 4x4.
Then, soak in the views as you venture north along the UAE coast toward the Sultanate of Oman’s mountainous Musandam Peninsula. Gaze out over the jagged peaks of the Hajar Mountains and after crossing the border into Oman, head for the port town of Dibba.
Admire the awesome wide bay at Dibba and veer inland into the Jebel Harim mountains, a range of barren rocky peaks and canyons that few visitors ever get to explore.
Head into Wadi Khab Shamsi, one of the range’s many steep-sided canyons, and begin your off-road journey through the stunning, deep gorge.
On route, make photo stops to capture the stupendous scenery, and relish the shade from the cliffs and the cool breezes that run through the ravine. Temperatures here are, on average, 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius) cooler than in the open, so they make for wonderful respite from the heat.
As you travel, watch for the birds and wildlife that come here to escape the sun, and hear about the interesting geography and history of the region from your guide. Unlimited sodas and waters are available to keep you refreshed during your trip.
Follow the winding gorge up to a height of nearly 3,937 feet (1,200 meters), and after leaving the wadi, retire to a local restaurant for lunch. Sit down to a succulent meal of traditional Omani dishes and afterward, reconvene with your 4x4 for your journey back to Fujairah.
Relax as you drive back into the UAE and finish your trip with a drop-off back at your hotel.
