Along the way, take in the rugged countryside, and hear from your guide about Western Galilee, the region of northwest Israel fringed by the Mediterranean coast.

Travel the northern coastal road and visit the archaeological site of Caesarea. Once a port built by King Herod and dedicated to Roman emperor Caesar Augustus, its 1st- and 2nd-century relics include a Roman amphitheater, hippodrome, and aqueduct, as well as later ruins.

Take a guided tour here, and then continue to the coastal city of Haifa. Israel’s third largest city, this picturesque enclave lies on the slopes of Mt. Carmel, and is famous for its Bah’ai Gardens and golden beaches. Gaze at the UNESCO-listed Bah’ai Gardens, a place of pilgrimage for followers of the Bah’ai faith, and admire the panoramas over Haifa Bay, as your guide shares background on the city’s history and culture.

Travel onward to Megiddo, a hilltop site where excavations have revealed the remains of numerous ancient cities. Hear how Megiddo saw many epic battles mentioned in the Old Testament, and is thought to be the site of Armageddon, the coming decisive battle between good and evil.

Wander around the site, taking in views over the surrounding Jezreel Valley, and then head to UNESCO-listed Acre, one of the world’s oldest inhabited cities.

Delve into the old city as you learn about its Phoenician, Greek, Roman, Crusader, and Ottoman past. Explore the old Crusader city, including its subterranean passageways, and check out the old port, crypts, and colorful old market as you take in the palpable sense of history.

Afterward, return to Jerusalem where your tour ends with a hotel drop-off.
