  • Hoi An farming and fishing village tour
  • Ride a bike and participate in a farming experience
  • Snacks, lunch, and beverages provided
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off by minivan
Following hotel pickup in Hoi An Ancient Town by minivan, you'll receive a safety briefing along with a bicycle and helmet. Then follow your guide on a bike tour of Phuoc Hai fishing village where you'll observe the daily life of local fisherman and their families.

Next, board a ferry for the Duy Hai village fish market and watch fishing boats returning with their catch of the day. Here, your guide will purchase fresh seafood for a later lunch. Then visit a fish sauce factory and learn about the production of nuoc mam, followed by refreshments at a local cafe.

Returning to Phuoc Hai by boat, you can join fishermen who employ traditional fishing nets. Then learn to paddle a tightly woven bamboo basket boat, known locally as thung chai, and take a spin around the freshwater coconut forest.

Continuing on to Cam Thanh, get a firsthand look at the manual process of traditional rice farming—including raking, transplanting, sowing, grinding, and pounding—and learn how water buffalos are used to plow the fields. After lunch with a family, you'll return to your hotel by minivan.

2.5-hour Sunset River Cruise and Basket Boat Rowing in Hoi An | Jun 2017

This was an unexpected, fun, laugh a minute tour. We did think we would have a sedate basket ride but the guys were great and very aware of whether we were enjoying the spinning and rocking on the baskets. We had a laugh a minute and our grandchildren at home were very impressed that we did this tour. The staff were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time, a highlight of our tour.

Sunrise Fish Market Tour in Hoi An | Jun 2017

We had booked for a Sunday morning tour 28 May, but on the night before, someone from the local tour agency called my mobile to inform that they don't expect good weather in the morning, and asked if we could change it to Monday morning instead. We accepted the change as we were going to stay in Hoi An for 3N.
The agent picked up at 4.45 am sharp, as arranged. It was a short drive to the boat. That morning was abit cloudy so we couldn't see the sunrise. Along the way, we saw several fishing boats, and many large fishing nets we were given a chance to pull in one of these nets later.
At the fishing village, it was quite a sight seeing the ladies sort their fishes out for sale. Our tour guide bought prawns and squids which was later cooked for our breakfast. We also saw a lady cutting fresh rice noodles into strips, and our guide bought some for breakfast too.
Then we took a short walk to the factory making fish sauce before returning to the boat.
The boat then went towards a small island, but it stopped for a while for one of the boatmen to lower the basket boat into the water and demonstrate how to paddle the basket boat. We then got into the basket boat and given the paddle to try it. The boatman also showed off his skill in manouevering the basket boat but it got me giddy, and I yelled 'Stop' to which the boatman did.
We rowed towards the island where we were given a chance to pull in one of those large fishing net to haul up the catch.
Then it was back onto the boat where the boat Captain had cooked us a deliciously fresh breakfast with the items bought from the fishing village. Then we headed back and was sent back to the hotel.
Even though we didn't see the sunrise, it was certainly worth waking up early for it. Personally, I chose a sunrise tour versus a sunset tour, as there is a lot of activity in the fishing village in the morning. Had a very good time. Highly recommended.

Half-Day Hoi An Farming and Fishing Life Tour | Mar 2017

Had a great time on this tour. Our tour guide Lilly was awesome young, passionate, authentic, articulate and confident. She gave us an informative and touching insight into what life is like for the local fishing and farming community as well as some of her and her families experience. Particularly engrossing was the story of how her grandfather was affected by his part in the war. The people we visited were humble and engaging and it was great to know that some of our tour fees were going toward helping them out. Food was good and plentiful. You could probably get a cheaper tour but I thought it was worth the money.

Half-Day Buffalo Cart Day Trip from Hoi An | Feb 2017

Great fun. The tour is short 1.5 - 2 hours so half day is a bit misleading but this is well worth doing nonetheless. Our tour guide was excellent. Energetic, engaging and knowledgeable - she made the experience that bit more special. You get to try a nice dish in a traditional home at the end of the ride too. I would recommend renting a bike/scooter afterwards and going back to the paddy fields for a longer ride around - it is well worth it and there are places nearby where you can pick up a bike.
