Over the course of your excursion you’ll get an in-depth look at the charms of Tai Po District, followed by a chance to witness the Dragon Boat Festival and race. Take a look inside the Man Mo Temple, dedicated to the gods of “Man” (literature) and “Mo” (war), and then head to the Tai Po Market, where you can explore the aisles of vendors selling everything from dried seafood to vegetables to locally-made sweets.
You’ll also have the opportunity to observe Tai Po’s annual one-day Dragon Boat Race, an event that combines local culture with a competitive boating spectacle. Watch as the racers expertly pilot their canoe-like vessels against other teams. The practice dates back to earlier historical times, when locals used to travel aboard such boats when visiting family members in other villages. You’ll be transferred back to your Hong Kong Island or Kowloon hotel at the end of the trip.
