Discover the history, landscape, and nature of Bach Ma National Park on a full-day nature tour from Hue that includes hotel pickup and drop-off, a picnic lunch in the park, and guided morning and afternoon hikes. Spot some of the 1,400 species of plants that thrive in the protected area, along with birds, mammals, and a garden of medicinal plants, and climb the park's highest mountain peak.
Start the day with 8am pickup at your hotel in Hue, then enjoy views of the scenic landscape on the 25-mile (40-km.) trip to Cau Hai town, where you’ll check in at the Bach Ma National Park visitor center. Drive into the park for a morning hike to Bach Ma National Park’s highest point, the 4,757-foot (1,450-meter) Bach Ma Mountain. Pack your camera for this trip, as you’ll have panoramic views from the summit to the East Sea, as well as the valley and lagoon below.
Descend from the summit and continue to an old French villa for a picnic lunch: what is now Bach Ma National Park was once a favorite getaway for the Colonial French, and hundreds of abandoned villas are scattered through the mountains here.
After lunch, hike the Five Lake Trail past a medicinal plant garden to the Do Quyen Waterfall (it’s a good idea to bring sturdy shoes for this slippery hike). If desired, you can continue to the bottom of the falls, a down-and-up hike that follows 689 steps, an additional hour of walking. You’ll have time to freshen up before you begin the return trip to Hue, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
