The flight schedule was very different from annoncement f.ex leave hotel at 03,30 where homepage said 05,00. The guide in Cairo was 45 min late. We had to call to get info. The guide did not show any deep knowledge he just repeated a few points very, very many times. He was directive, did not listen and pushy as if he had his own schedule. Both drivers Cairo and Hurghada were nice and prompt. The pyramides and the museum were fantastic

Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada, Including Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple | Dec 2019
We were picked up from our hotel at 5.30am in a very comfortable vehicle. Our drive was 3.5 hours to our first stop, where we met with Marian who was our very friendly and knowledgeable guide for the whole day. After our first temple Marian said we were heading to the Nile where a boat would take us to a restaurant on the other side. She phoned our lunch order ahead and we had a lovely trip across. Lunch was plentiful and excellent. Soup, salad and flatbread with hummus, followed by chicken or beef or fish or vegetarian with rice. After lunch was the actual Vally of the kings then two more temples. We were really well looked after and I felt the extra cost to have our own vehicle and guide was well worth it. An amazing day we will all remember (6 of us). Special thanks to our wonderful guide Marian.

Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada, Including Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple | Aug 2019
Our private tour of Luxor was wonderful. Driver arrived at hotel promptly at the agreed time. Our tour guide Mahmoud Nour was wonderful! He first explained the plan for the day so that we would know what to expect and the timeline. His plan was perfect. There were multiple times that we were the only people in a tomb/area. The boat ride and lunch were a wonderful break from touring. Food was excellent. Mahmoud routinely checked to make sure we had enough water and that we were still happy with the plan. He is also a great photographer and he suggested several photos that we wouldn't have considered. So happy with our decision to book the tour and thankful we got such a wonderful guide.

Tour to Cairo and the Pyramids from Hurghada by Private Vehicle | Aug 2019
The drive from Hurghada is about 6 hours but with the private transfer we slept easily following a 3am pick up. We felt safe throughout the entire trip and our driver was great. The tour was amazing and our guide Ahmed Zakaria was happy to change timings to suit the heat and the needs of our two children. Please be aware that this tour only includes entry to the pyramids site, if you want to go inside any pyramid, to see the boat or on a camel ride then you have to pay extra. Lunch was good although disappointing the air conditioning wasn't switched on, it was much needed after the heat of the morning. Would highly recommend the tour but be prepared to be wiped out the day after with such a long journey there and back!

2 Day Trips to Luxor Highlights from Safaga Port | May 2019
Our overnight Luxor trip out of Saffaga port was scheduled on time with no waiting time whatsoever. The tour was exceptionally guided by Hassan Ali Mohammed. All sites were escorted fully, and the restaurants were excellent. Our guide suggested a Hot Air Balloon that was not in our plans that turned out to be a major highlight of the visit. The driver was very good and always met us at the exit of all the sites. I highly recommend the tour and suggest the very knowledgeable, Mr. Hassan Ali Mohammed and his Driver.

3 Day Egypt Highlights From Hurghada | Jan 2019
Our tour is run by the tour operator Egypt tours. The travel and hotel (especially Steigenberger Nile Palace, Luxor) arrangements were good. We skipped Cairo. The visit to Abu Simbel temples required three hours by car starting early in the morning at Aswan, an hour at the temple, another three hours back to Aswan, followed by train to Luxor after lunch. While this part of the visit cannot be made better, it left us thinking if it was necessary to travel an entire day for just an hour of sight seeing that day. At Luxor, the Valley of Kings, Hatshepsut temple and the Karnak temple are definitely worth visiting. Our guide at Luxor, Mohammed Hassan also gave a very detailed and intersting description of each of the attractions. I would recommend him for an English speaking guide. Egypt tours made sure all arrangements were made in advance. For any requirements/enquiries, it is easier to call Egypt tours by phone directly instead of Viator helpline, even though Viator have a very helpful call center staff.

Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada, Including Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple | Jan 2019
This was a long day trip from Hurghada but well worth it. Guide (Mohammed) was excellant and gave us just the right level of information at each of the places we visited. We also had some time to explore on our own. The lunch and setting was lovely and we enjoyed the boat trip on the Nile. The guide also took some pictures for us so we had some photos with us both in. We felt safe at all times during the trip and were escorted through all the bazaars so didn't feel pressured at all. Unfortunatley the car we were in had a mechanical fault which meant the day was much longer than planned however we were well looked after and the tour provider compensated us for this on our return. December was a great time to do this excursion as the weather was not to hot and the sights were not busy.

Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada, Including Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple | Apr 2018

Summary: A great trip with a very knowledgable guide, be aware it's a very long day with long travel times 4 hours of quite scary driving each way - although we took our 11 and 5 year olds they really struggled towards the end with the travelling and the heat much hotter than Hurghada, to the point we decided to skip the trip on the Nile as it would have been too much for them. Food was excellent but limited choice chicken, beef or fish so be aware if you have fussy eaters! Worst features are the toilets - not particularly clean and you had to pay 2 each at Karnak as well as pushy bazaars at the entrance to each temple.

Would we recommend the trip - definitely but you must accept the toilet facilities are generally poor and you will have to pay it's hot I mean really hot and you will spend a good 8-9 hours driving!

We were picked on time at our hotel in a modern clean minivan with a friendly driver who spoke some english. The journey to Luxor was initially very smooth on well paved modern roads through the desert/mountains with fantastic views. There are however a number of security checkpoints complete with armed guards to break up the flow. Traffic laws in Egypt are 'interesting' with lane discipline clearly optional so it's quite an 'exciting' journey! We stopped after about 1.5hrs at a small coffee shop with a few market stalls attached, there were reasonable toilets tipping clearly expected to use them and the ability to buy snacks/drinks at fairly reasonable prices. This stop lasted abut 30mins and there were a number of other minivans and coaches arriving during the time we were there.
The journey then continues in a similar vein until you reach the first city Qena where the roads become more congested and the standard of driving more questionable with donkeys, carts, pedestrians, cars, lorries and coaches all involved in a battle for the fastest route! The area is a stark contrast to the resorts of Hurghada with the poverty of the area becoming more apparent.
Travelling into Luxor we picked up Abdul Ahmed our guide and headed to the Valley of the kings. The first thing we found out was to stick with the guide through the Bazaar you had to walk through on entry and exit of the valley. This was an amazing experience but due to a break down in communications we left cameras on the bus as instructed however, you could buy a photography license for 300LE to allow photography. The tombs were spectacular, 3 are included in the trip and you can pay to enter more including Tutankhamun's we decided not to pay the extra as each tomb was similar with little left inside apart from the decorations. The facilities at the Valley of the kings were barely acceptable and once again a tip was required to use them.
The next stop was at one of the many Alabaster factories close to the valley of the kings, we were given a demonstration of how the products were made before being given soft drinks inside the shop and the ability to use the SPOTLESS toilets. Be careful in the shop as there are no prices given until you have selected any goods and let me assure you while they were amazing they were not cheap. It's worth noting this stop was not in the itinerary and was a way to try to get you to purchase from the shop, personally we didn't mind the intrusion and the shop staff were friendly and polite without being pushy but we did buy a fair amount of products so be aware it may be different if you don't!
Next we headed to the Temple of Hatshepsut again an amazing spectacle but with dubious facilities again a cost to use the toilets and my god was it hot! The same Bazaar was evident on the entrance/exit and you were pestered despite the best efforts of our guide to deflect the sellers. It was at this point we found out that the Island restaurant did not have chicken so we opted for the in town option as the kids were more likely to eat!
Lunch was good with an Egyptian Mezze, soup and grilled chicken on the menu, food was well prepared and very tasty and the restaurant itself clean and tidy.
Next up is Karnak which was probably our favourite part of the trip with an amazing temple and history. At this point however we decided to cancel the boat trip on the Nile it appeared we were due a motorboat trip not a Felluca. Throughout our guide was knowledgeable and informative if possibly slightly too detailed for the children and was helpful in catering for our needs as a group.
The trip home was similar to the trip out but is anything even faster and under cover of darkness - which I'm not sure if it made it more or less scary!

Private Tour: Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada, Including Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and Karnak Temple | Apr 2018

Fantastic tour - seeing 3 of the tombs at the Valley of the Kings as well as Hatshepsut Temple but the absolute highlight was Karnak Temple - just unfortunate we couldn't spend longer at Karnak. Our guide, Mohammad, was fantastic, so knowledgeable and great at answering all of our questions, even from the kids. Food for lunch was average. The only drawback was the driving - our drivers travelled at 130km/hr for much of the trip and tailgated so much and also used their mobile phones while driving - certainly didn't feel safe - and they didn't really adjust when we asked them to slow down and not follow so closely.

2 Day Trips to Luxor Highlights from Safaga Port | Aug 2017

This trip was amazing. We added some extra stops for a fair price and took some recommendations from our guide on some extra fun things to do. They were worth it.
Our guide was an egyptologist, who was knowledgeable, gave us great extras, and accommodated our every need. It could not have been better.

P,lease note that the driver cannot pick you up at the ship, you must make it to the outside of the port. We were a little confused. Just walk on out, or take the shuttle.

Day Trip to Luxor Highlights from Safaga Port | May 2017

We arrived at Safaga and opted for a private tour because we were the only people with a toddler on our cruise ship. Our driver Hassani was incredibly accommodating and ensured that we were comfortable during the long drive to Luxor and back. He had prior experience as a tour guide and told us about the areas we drove through.

When we entered Luxor we picked up our guide Omar Khalifa. He was fantastic with our daughter. He was knowledgeable and and patiently went at our speed. He was able to clarify any questions we had and he tailored an experience just for us.
