Make your own way to Inverness Bus Station to meet your guide in time for an 8:30am departure. Traveling aboard a luxury 28-seat mini-coach with onboard air-conditioning, set out on the around 2 and half hour journey to the Isle of Skye.
Head out of the city, crossing the Kessock Bridge to the Black Isle, then enjoy the stunning scenery of the Scottish Highlands as you pass through traditional villages and rolling farmlands. Arrive at the West coast and cross the Skye Bridge, listening as your guide points out the islands of Pabay, Scalpay, and Raasay on the horizon.
On the island, the first stop is Kyleakin, where you can jump out to breathe in the sea air and take photos of the harbor, the Skye Bridge, Castle Moil, and the lighthouse. Continue through the wild landscapes of the Cuillin Mountains, stopping at Sligachan, where you’ll have around 45 minutes to walk around the mountains or enjoy a dram of Scottish Whisky (own expense).
Venture north along the Trotternish Peninsula, passing the dramatic Old Man of Storr, a 164-foot (50-meter) high rock jutting out from the hills. Pause to take in the views from the sea cliffs of Kilt Rock, where a waterfall tumbles down into the Sound of Raasay below, then continue to the Quiraing at the north of the peninsula. Here, you’ll have time for a short hike across the volcanic landscapes, gazing out along the coast.
We will stop in the island capital of Portree, where you’ll have plenty of time to explore, take photos or shop for souvenirs.
As you set out on the return journey to Inverness, this time taking an alternative route, you will stop at Eilean Donan Castle and drive along the legendary Loch Ness, pausing to enjoy views from the loch-side Urquhart Castle.
After an action-packed day, your tour ends back at Inverness Bus Station around 8:45pm.
