After pickup from your Jaipur hotel or airport, travel by private, air-conditioned vehicle to the Amber Fort, the 16th-century hilltop Rajhastani fort outside the city.
Marvel at your first sight of the majestic, pink-sandstone-and-marble fort, fronted by the ornamental Maotha Lake. Then, head inside (own expense) and enjoy a Jeep ride up to the main gate.
Next, set off on foot with your private guide to explore the fort-palace, built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, and once the power base of Amer, Rajhastan’s former capital.
As you roam the pavilions and halls, hear about the fort’s history and the maharajahs who once resided here. View highlights including the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors), the Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), and the water-cooled Sukh Mahal, and admire other must-sees including the Ganesh Pol, a glorious, fresco-coated gate leading to the royal apartments.
After your visit, drive back to Jaipur, stopping for photos of the beautiful Jah Mahal water palace, set in Sagar Lake, on route. Then, enjoy some shopping time in Old Jaipur, browsing for souvenirs and watching artisans making the city’s jewelry, marble carvings, textiles, and other handicrafts.
Your tour then finishes with a hotel drop-off.
