Travel back to the early 20th century when you step aboard the North Borneo Railway. Following hotel pickup in the Kota Kinabalu city center, you’re transferred to the railway station for a morning departure aboard a classic steam locomotive.
Refurbished to recreate what life was like in the days of the North Borneo Chartered Company and the British Colonial Office, each railcar provides an authentic look at typical transport during the bygone era.
During your scenic countryside tour with a guide, make your first sightseeing stop in Kinarut Town. Here, pay a visit to Tien Shi Temple, known for its fine statues. The journey continues past fields and villages to Papar Town where you can see shophouses and a local wet market.
A traditional Tiffin-style lunch is served on board while you relax with countryside views from your seat. After the train trip, you’re transferred back to your hotel.
