Meet your guide at your central Lisbon hotel and kick off your full-day combination tour visiting Lisbon’s top sites. In your air-conditioned coach, cruise along Liberty Avenue towards Rossio and discover the Alfama district. Here, take a break at a local wine shop in the capital’s oldest district and enjoy a tasting.
Next, head to Praça do Comércio, a beautiful plaza, and see the regal statue of King José I riding his bronze horse. Then, continue to the coastline of the Tagus River and ogle Lisbon’s famous Monument to the Discoveries, Belém Tower and visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Jerónimos Monastery. Afterward, spend time at the Coach Museum which is noteworthy for its collection of elegant coaches, some as old as 200 years.
(Note: If your tour is on Monday the Coach Museum and Jerónimos Monastery are closed and will be replaced with visits to the either neoclassical Palácio Nacional da Ajuda (Ajuda Palace) or the Casa-Museu Medeiros e Almeida, renowned for its glowing art works by Portuguese artist António de Medeiros e Almeida.)
Before heading into the countryside and Sintra, stop for lunch (own expense) at a local eatery. Then, buckle-up for a relaxing trip to Sintra National Palace. Arrive and visit the palace with your guide. Then, enjoy leisure time to wander through the charming town on your own. From here, drive to Colares and stroll, on foot, with your guide learning about the local wines.
Finally, soak up the sights as you drive from the Portuguese countryside to the Estoril Coast. Admire golden beaches near Cascais Bay and Cabo da Roca, a cape which forms the westernmost extent of continental Europe. Then, witness the waves crashing into Hell's Mouth cliff (Boca do Inferno) and surfers gliding the waves at Guincho Beach before heading back to Lisbon.
