Meet your guide in central Lisbon for a memorable small-group guided day trip to Sintra and Cascais. Hop aboard your air-conditioned minivan and travel to Sintra. First stop at Pena Park and see the diversity of plants and trees line the beautiful trails. Then, voyage to a spectacular vantage point of Pena National Palace (Palacio da Pena) and the Atlantic Ocean from Queen's Throne. Continue to Pena National Palace, the most famous of Sintra’s monuments, located at the top of Sintra Mountain. Enjoy this 19th-century Romanticist castle that looks and feels like a fairy tale. Admire its eclectic Neo-Manueline, Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance styles as you head inside. Observe the extravagant bedrooms that used to serve as a summer residence for the royal family. Depart the palace and stroll with your guide to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sintra. Spend some free time to have lunch or discover the town’s forested palaces like Sintra National Palace, a medieval royal palace occupied from the 15th to 19th centuries (own expense). Check out the local fare with tastes of aqueijada or travesseiro, two scrumptious and traditional pastries. Meet back with your guide and travel to Sintra Natural Park. Along the way, pass by Seteais Palace, Quinta da Regaleira and the Palace of Monserrate. Then, whip out your camera for great photos at the rocky bluffs of Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca), Europe’s westernmost point. Briefly, visit Guincho Beach where surfers shred the gnar and then cruise by Hell’s Mouth (Boca do Inferno). Finally, make your way to Cascais’ bay for a walk. In the former fishing town of Cascais, peruse the narrow streets of this trendy vacation getaway with your guide. Check out classic white, terracotta-roofed houses as you make your way to the beach. Then, bask in the sun as you tuck your toes into the golden sands and gaze over the expansive Atlantic Ocean. Along the journey back to central Lisbon, where your tour concludes, enjoy pristine views of the scenic town of Estoril.
We left Lisbon to follow the spectacular coastline and fabulous beaches to Cascais, passing through quaint resort towns along the way. Our guide provided a phot stop at Cabo Roca before continuing on to the magnificent Pena Palace and Sintra national park. We didn't have quite enough time to stroll through the Quinta da Regaleira with it's lush gardens and statuary and one could easily spend the day hiking in the park to discover all the treasures. Great experience!
My husband and 5 yr old and I spent the day with a few others in a coastal drive to Cascais. We visited a few different areas, including the cute town center and the western most point of Europe. Then we visisted Pena Palace in Sintra. We were a bit confused about when a good time to eat lunch was, but had a nice meal in Sintra prior to seeing the palace. Unfortunately, it took all our time in the town center and we didnt get to see the castle there. Pena palace was beautiful! The guide was good.
Tour co picks up and drops off at hard rock cafe. Very efficient and only 8 passengers per minivan. Pedro a wonderful guide. Gave us history of lisbon, estoril, cascais, and sintra. Helped me navigate with my bad hip, took us to a wonderful place for lunch in sintra, and la pena castle was awesome. Highly recommend booking this tour co. Thru viator.
A full day trip to Cascais and Sintra also included a stop at Cabo da Roca. Our guide and driver Rodrigo was superb. He was friendly and very knowledgeable about all of the areas we visited and for him nothing was too much trouble. We would thoroughly recommend this trip.
This guided tour of Sinatra and Cascais was well organised ensuring that we got to Sinatra ahead of the crowds. The tour guide was very. Friendly and informative regarding the schedule for the day as well as the history regarding the palace. The tour gave us time to see all we wanted and allow us to independently have lunch in Sinatra before moving onto Cascais. I would recommend this tour to anyone considering visiting Sinatra as the crowds at the Palace can be quite daunting without a guide.
