Your tour begins at Calle San Bernardo, where you’ll greet your guide and receive a historical overview of Madrid. Over the course of an hour and a half, you’ll explore the area known as the Hapsburg’s Madrid, where the imprint of the Hapsburg dynasty is evident on many monuments.
Begin at the ornamental Plaza Mayor, a central square dominated by Renaissance architecture, and descend the stairs at the Arch of Cuchilleros. Navigate the narrow, cobbled streets surrounding Plaza de Villa, hearing tales of murder and the monarchy, and visit some of Madrid’s oldest buildings, including the House and Tower of Lujares.
See, too, the neoclassical grandeur of the Almudena Cathedral and conclude your tour before the magnificent Royal Palace (Palacio Real), located in Plaza de Oriente.
