Spend a full day exploring the landmarks of the Great Ocean Road. Watch the sunset at the famous Twelve Apostles rock formation, pass the Otway Ranges and spot koalas, explore landmarks in Port Campbell National Park and more. Known as one of Australia's most beautiful drives and one of Victoria's most popular destinations, the Great Ocean Road offers great photo ops of coastal scenery, picturesque seaside towns and pristine wilderness—a must-do excursion from Melbourne.
  • Full-day Great Ocean Road tour with sunset
  • Learn about the history and wildlife of Victoria's coast from the knowledgeable guide
  • See koalas in their natural environment
  • Take in the Shipwreck Coast including Loch Ard Gorge
  • Stop at the Twelve Apostles in time for the sunset
  • Includes selected hotels pickup and drop-off in Melbourne
Depart Melbourne in the morning via Westgate Bridge, the longest bridge in Australia, with sweeping views of the city and Port Phillip Bay.

Pass Geelong, Victoria’s second-largest city, as you make your way towards the Surf Coast known for lovely beachside towns and powerful surf. During a short stop in Anglesea, stretch your legs by strolling along the Anglesea River before continuing your scenic journey.

Soak in the breathtaking coastal scenery of the Great Ocean Road as you drive and during frequent scenic stops, including a photo op at Eastern View where the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch stretches over the road.

Have time to purchase lunch in Kennet River or Lorne. Afterward, take a walk through a wilderness refuge with eucalyptus trees that shelter wild koalas. Look for the koalas in the trees napping or munching on leaves—the large population of koalas virtually guarantees multiple sightings.

Continue by coach through the Otway Ranges to the Shipwreck Coast and Port Campbell National Park. There you see iconic rock formations starting with Loch Ard Gorge. Hear the story of the shipwreck at Loch Ard in 1878 and view other rock formations with amusing names such as Dumpling Pots, Razorback, and Island Archway. Then head to the Twelve Apostles before sunset to watch the sky change colors over the majestic rock formation.

On the return to Melbourne, expect a stop in the town of Colac for dinner (own expense).

Canadians tour Great Ocean Road

The locations we saw were great. Our driver / guide was excellent and very accommodating. The tour company didn’t provide a comfortable enough bus for a 8 hour trip. Our trip ended up 13 hours due to picking up a microphone (that failed later), a detour past a highway accident and the bus engine acting up. Bigger busses with more room and reclining seats are required.
Great tour to void crowds

I guess you cannot go wrong by joining a Great Ocean Road tour. The day was long, but the views were worth it! Our guide James was excellent!
Overall a good experience

Everything was fine except for seating arrangement in the bus was crammed up with little leg space. Have travelled by bus in Switzerland through viator and the difference in comfort level was just great. Overall a good day spent other wise.
Great views and great guide!

My mom and I had a wonderful day with GoWest tours and we were amazed by the spectacular views. We were a bit unlucky with the weather and the seats were not really made for tall people (but when are they ever) but the long drive was made better by our wonderful driver and guide. Her good mood was contagious and she was very professional in organizing stops and food orders. She was also very knowledgeable and helpful and made our trip a learning experience. Thanks Leonie!

Although it’s quite a long freeway time from Brisbane, it was worth it. The beach road on the island was absolutely amazing. Rainforest and then Lake Mackenzie were nice to see. The lake has a really nice and pretty quiet beach on the left. Trip might be expensive compared to other offers, but had 4WD all time.
Awesome tour guide

Very efficient and tour guide and quite knowledgeable. We had a fine time touring. Highly recommend to do the sunset tour instead of the usual day tour to avoid the crowds.

Loved the small group size and our guide, Bec was amazing, not only for her knowledge but she's got a great sense of humour too. We got lucky with the weather and the sunset over the apostles put on a spectacular show
