Your day trip starts with pickup in Melbourne for the drive northeast of the city to the Yarra Valley. Throughout your tour, your knowledgeable wine guide provides entertaining commentary and information about the Yarra Valley wine region and the varietals produced here.

Make your first stop at Yering Farm, where you’ll enjoy your tasting in the cellar door (tasting room) converted from an old hay shed. As you sample wine, take a look at copper winemaking tools used more than a century ago. Then head to Balgownie Estate, where you’ll spend half an hour at the tasting table, sampling varietals like shiraz and cabernet sauvignon, before moving into the winery restaurant, with views of the vineyards, for lunch and a glass of wine. (If the winery is not serving lunch on the day of the tour, a similar location will be substituted.)

Next, make your way to Steels Gate Winery for a tasting of classic Australian varietals, and then head to your last stop, Domaine Chandon. At this Australian outpost of famed French Champagne house Moët & Chandon, you’ll enjoy a private tour of the property to discover how sparkling wine is produced. Finally, enjoy a glass of bubbles while taking in the views.

Your day trip ends with the drive back to Melbourne, where you’ll be dropped off at your pickup point.

If you are really into the wine world, this is definitely your tour to take! You'll experience a full day surrounded by professionals that will guide you through the wine making details to the tasting methodologies and much more. If you are more like a wine drinker only, you'll learn a lot while you enjoy dozens of wine tasting surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Totally worth it! Our tour guide Nick was the best!

Great trip for wine tasting and gaining knowledge about different types of wine, finding your good ones. However, 4 wineries trip is a little but too much for some one didnt drink much like me. I was drunk and couldnt feel the tastes of wine of the last winery, hahaha.

So many delicious wines available to taste its very true, you might need to join our tour again one day soon to sample those wines you might have missed. We often change the order of wineries we visit or alternate with other selected wineries in the valley.

Fantastic day out! 🍷

Our tour guide, Chris was amazing and super knowledgeable about wines (and whiskey too!). It was our first proper outing in Melbourne since COVID and Chris’s first tour in months which made it a very special day. We stopped at four wineries which were all fantastic and lunch was excellent - everyone on our tour came home with at least one bottle which shows how great the wine was. Highly recommend this tour for an awesome day out and break from the city life.

Highly recommended! Ant (Anthony) was a great guide and took care of all of us (huge group of 22!) all the way. He’s friendly, funny and super knowledgeable about the wineries! Superb lunch and the wineries are a nice mix around Yarra Valley. Bus is comfy and nice sceneries along the way! Oh! For those waiting at QV Melbourne like me, please note that the pick-up point is at the carpark between Swanson and Russell Street! Team Viator + Australian Wine Tour Company: May be good to update websites for this! Ant had to walk around QV to catch me!

Our tour host was very knowledgeable about the area and the wine! At one vineyard the lady giving the introduction to the wine got distracted with another group coming in, our tour guide took over and told us about the next wine we were tasting! We also so kangaroos grazing in one of the vineyards! The wine tour was good and the kangaroos were a great surprise! The country side was beautiful!!!
