This private 5-hour tour begins with a hotel pickup in Munich. Meet the guide and then head to the center of the city to begin the sightseeing. This private tour is a customized experience, so be sure to include any specific requests for desired attractions to the guide at any time.
The 2-hour city tour begins with a stop at the landmark Cathedral of Our Blessed Lady, a church that serves as the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and the seat of its Archbishop. It is widely considered a symbol of Munich. Learn about its history and climb the stairs of the south tower for a breathtaking view of Munich and the nearby Alps.
Then head to Munich’s famous watering hole, Hofbräuhaus — a festive 3-floor beer hall dating back to the 16th century, followed by a short drive to Marienplatz, the city’s main square since 1158. Step inside the Old Town Hall on the east side of the square to see one of the city's most beautiful buildings from the Gothic era.
Some of the other highlights include the Deutsches Museum, the world's largest museum of science and technology; the elegant Munich National Theatre, home of the Bavarian State Opera and the Bayerisches Staatsballett and more.
After the city tour, enjoy a scenic 50-minute drive southwest to Andechs Abbey, a world-famous Benedictine pilgrimage atop Bavaria’s Holy Mountain. Andechs has been known as a place of pilgrimage since the Middle Ages. Visit the monastery and see the view of nearby Lake Ammersee, or head over to the Andechser Bräustüberl tavern for lunch and a mug of Andechs monastery beer (own expense).
The tour concludes with a return trip and hotel drop-off back in Munich.
