Metepenagiag Heritage Park (Meh-deh-b’nag-ghee-agh) is guardian of two of the most significant aboriginal heritage archaeological sites in eastern Canada: the Augustine Mound and Oxbow National Historic Sites. These sites, demonstrated through archaeological findings, prove that this location has been continuously inhabited by the Mi'kmaq people for over 3,000 years, "making it the oldest, continually occupied village in New Brunswick.

At this world class cultural facility there is much to experience such as ancient artifacts, interactive displays, a 20-minute film in a 52-seat theatre, and interactive displays. Discover the exhibit hall and tipi’s, converse with Mi’kmaq Nationally Certified Heritage Interpreters, make traditional bread in an open fire-pit and explore for geocaches’.

Take a guided tour of the walking trails where you will be introduced to natural medicines, edible plants and wildlife viewings. The trails pass over a newly discovered archaeological site by the river and these same trails will take you to the beautiful Red Bank Lodge that offers accommodations and dinning. Also visit and shop for Indigenous art work in the park's gift shop.
