After morning pickup from the New Miyako Hotel in Kyoto (near Kyoto Statoin), walk with your guide to Kyoto station to board the JR rapid service train to Osaka Station (non-reserved seat).
Upon arrival in Osaka, walk with your guide to the Umeda Sky Building, then take the elevator to the Floating Garden Observatory on the 40th floor where an open-air sky bridge connects the building’s two towers. Your guide points out landmarks such as Mt Ikoma and Awaji Island, and gives you plenty of time to take in panoramic views over Osaka.
Enjoy a Japanese lunch at a local restaurant, then hop on the subway at Higashi-Umeda station and travel to Temmabashi station. From there, a short walk brings you to Osaka Castle, one of the most famous landmarks in Japan.
Spend about one hour exploring Osaka Castle, an architectural marvel that sits on a stone rampart above the city. Built from enormous stone blocks starting in 1583, the castle also features displays with relics of old Osaka and the Toyotomi family that originally erected the castle.
After admiring the castle, a short stroll to the river brings you to the boarding site for your cruise on the Aqua Liner. Glide down the Okawa River and around Nakanoshima Isle, passing the Twin Towers, Osaka Castle, City Hall and other landmarks during your 1-hour riverboat cruise. Keep your camera handy for excellent photo ops.
Once you have seen Osaka from the water, start your return trip to Kyoto. With your guide, take the JR local line from Osakajo-Koen to Osaka station, then transfer to the rapid train to Kyoto, arriving in the early evening at Kyoto Station to end your tour of Osaka.
