Meet your guide and group of up to 20 participants on arrival at Puntarenas cruise port between 8am and 9am. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned minivan, relax on the around 1-hour drive to the Turuari Eco Park, enjoying the views as you wind through the mango, sugar and citrus plantations.
On arrival, hop aboard for a 15-minute ride on the park’s aerial tram, climbing to a height of 262 feet (80 meters) and soaring over the Tarcoles River. From the comfort of your gondola, enjoy spectacular views of the wild rainforest and sprawling farmlands of the Eco Park.
Arrive in the heart of the rainforest and set out on a guided 2.5-hour nature walk to experience for yourself the park’s many wildlife preservation, conservation and rehabilitation projects. Look out for exotic birds and monkeys as you trek through stretches of primary forest, and admire native plants species such as orchids, cactus, and bromeliads. Visit the butterfly garden, where you can spot rare species and take a look at the lab to see the various stages of development, from hatching eggs, to caterpillars and cocoons.
Along the way, pass lush plantations and learn more about Costa Rica’s most important crops, which include coffee, sugar cane, bananas, and cocoa. You’ll also have chance to peek into a traditional sugar mill and visit a country farm, home to chickens, ducks, pigs, and white tailed deer.
At the end of the tour, your driver will be waiting to take you back to Puntarenas cruise port.
