Why Travellers Choose This Tour

Capri is well worth the trip from Rome! Escape the hectic city for blissful views, quaint shops and the ethereally beautiful Blue Grotto.
After pickup from your hotel or meeting point, your Rome to Capri day trip starts with the approximate 3-hour drive south to Naples, capital of Italy’s Campania region. Along the way, admire the landscape of Castelli Romani (Roman Castles) and sights like the Abbey of Montecassino, a hilltop Benedictine monastery.
When you arrive at the port of Naples, board a hydrofoil boat or catamaran for the 45-minute ride across the Tyrrhenian Sea to Capri, a fashionable island that sits just off Italy’s famed Amalfi Coast. You’ll pull into Marina Grand, where you can transfer over to a rowboat for a guided journey along the shoreline to see the fascinating Blue Grotto, Capri’s most famous natural sight (entry at your own expense). The grotto’s enchanting blue color comes from rays that enter from under the water and a small beam of light from the cave’s only entrance.
Back on the island, head up to the small village of Anacapri by coach to enjoy hilltop views of the Bay of Naples with free time for lunch at a local trattoria. Then go back down the hill to the town of Capri, the island’s main settlement, where you can walk around on your own. Go shopping for souvenirs or check out sights like Piazza Umberto before it's time to catch the boat back to Naples, where you’ll re-board the coach for the return drive to Rome.
As you leave Naples, catch sight of landmarks like Castel Nuovo, Certona di San Martino and Palazzo Reale. Then relax on the journey back to Rome, where your day trip ends at a drop-off point near Termini Station or one of the following locations, if you prefer: Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini, Piazza Venezia or Piazza della Repubblica (just let your guide know).
Please note: In rare cases of very bad weather, boats to Capri are cancelled; if this happens, you’ll spend the day exploring Naples and the ancient ruins of Pompeii, a World Heritage Site, with your guide. No refund will be due.

Although the guide was excellent and very amiable what was supposed to be 13 hours became 15 hours which made the trip an endurance rather than enjoyment. Capri and Anacapri were worth seeing

This day trip made my girlfriend cry tears of joy. That alone is worth 5 Stars!

Our 7;10AM pick-up at our hotel was right on time, and the ride to Naples, although long, was comfortable. It included a rest stop for food and restrooms. There wasn't a lot of narration along the way, but enough to get a sense for the countryside. Capri provided some great views, especially from the top of the gondola ride, and also some nifty and exciting driving from the local bus drivers. Lunch was good although kind of hectic The Blue Grotto was closed which disappointed some, but the single chair gondola ride did provide for some excitement. The ride back was long with, in my opinion, a needless stop which got us back to the hotel at 9:30PM.

Amazing sight only if one takes the boat ride along the island. Highly recommendable. The Blue Grotto tour Optional 2.5 hrs.waiting time for 5 minutes of pleasure. Up to each individual to comment. The Anacapri tour and lunch is OK. Mostly meant for tourist to spend at the shops.

Hello. Just wanted to say that this was my first time in Italy and this trip was disappointing in several ways. Not sure why some people gave it five stars. The free lunch was horrible and definitely not worth the money. The service at the restaurant along with the food was poor. Also there was very little time spent on the island before turning right back around and returning from the trip.

Boat ride around the island which was an additional fee was the highlight of the trip and was not even included. Seems like most of the money goes towards the transportation.

We have traveled all over the world and used Viator as a platform. They are not the tour company. This is just a booking. The other trips while in Rome were amazing to Tuscany etc. However, this for 345 US was the worst day I have ever spent. The guide was a lovely w an Italian company. You take a bus drive for hours stop at a local convenience type store get to Naples and board a common boat that was packed. Get to the port in Capri which is a pretty seaside fishing town. Can either buy another ticket 30 Euros each to Blue Grotto, lift ride at top extra, boat ride extra or you sit an shop. The meal was terrible and I hate reviewing like this. The seafood gritty and we could not eat it, salad okay, and had to purchase drinks. So, basically the 343 was to get you there w/some interesting facts from our lovely guide. We stopped on the way back in a convenience type store that I am sure she gets a commission on. That is fine, but all very common. Of all of our tours this was a terrible day spend. Money is no was just terrible day. You either shop or add on the extras. Quite frankly Blue Grotto looked lovely but should have been included or you do nothing but shop in mostly inexpensive tourist shops. I would never recommend this trip instead book day to Tuscany lunch at the Villa. OUTSTANDING!

This is the 2nd time I've been on this trip and the 2nd time was much better! It does make for a long day but you know that from the beginning. Weather was perfect, and we were able to do our own thing if we didn't like the activity options that were given to us. Would take this trip again.

Good organised, good guides, great places to see. The drive was good, the trip by boat ok, our guides Cristina and Pino were great, they really know their stuff (and multilingual too)
My son was also enchanted with the landscape and the trip itself.

I like the idea of this tour. Our guide Christina was great. We went on a Sunday and it was busy. I knew that there would be a long bus ride to get to Naples, and a boat ride to get to Capri, what I didn't know is that more than half 75 of the time that I was going to spend in Capri was going to be waiting for a bus to take us around the island. I opted for the blue grotto tour, which was nice but from others on the tour it sounded like the boat ride around the island would have been a better selection. Anyway, once we got to Capri, we waited for at least an HOUR not exaggerating here to get a bus to take us to the blue grotto. If I would have known this I would have just taken the ski lift up myself and met the group at the top! We waited probably 45 min-1 hr in line for the blue grotto. We were in the blue grotto for maybe 10 minutes. After that, we hopped on a bus to take us to lunch. The lunch was not good. I could have made better pasta using a canned sauce at home. After lunch we had maybe 5 min to either use the bathroom or shop because we were told we had to be on the bus to go back. So lets recap on what I actually did on this tour aside from the transportation... about 10 minutes of the blue grotto, and about 1 hour for lunch... and yep, thats all i did. Anyway, we were told we had to wait for the bus to get back down to the bottom of the island to catch the boat to go back to Naples to get the bus back to Rome. We waited HOURS again, not an exaggeration, it was at least 2 hrs that we waited for this bus when we could have been doing other things like shopping/sight seeing while the tour guides waited for the bus.... there was plenty of time for them to have re-grouped us. So after we got the bus back we had to run again not an exaggeration to get on the boat to head back to Naples. I do not recommend this tour. While Christina was awesome, and Capri was beautiful the only reasons this is getting 2 stars, you are wasting your time. Capri should not be visited for 1.5 hours of an entire day it deserves an entire day in itself or even more. If you have an extra day or two to spend, go there separately and do not take this tour.

The Capri Day Trip was probably the highlight of our Italian vacation. We loved every minute of it - even the bus ride! Our tour leader Christina was EXCELLENT - she is brilliant, a multi-lingual expert of the Gulf of Naples and Italy in general. She is very sweet and knowledgable - she can speak English, French, Italian, Spanish, and probably more languages. She made us feel very safe and taken care of. Do not pass up the opportunity to go to Capri - it is truly amazing and breathtaking.
We didn't opt for the tour of the Blue Grotto - instead, we went up to Anacapri and took the Cable Car up to the top - what a view! We had a drink and took in the sights in this amazing hidden gem.
Lunch was good, it wasn't your typical gourmet Italian cuisine, but for an included lunch it was certainly great.
We took a boat ride around the island of Capri which was so amazing to do, and what a way to see the other parts of the Island and bask in the hot Italian sun! We had great company on this boat ride, it was a wonderful add-on to take part in.
Not to worry about comfort stops - we took one break on the way to Naples and then another stop on the way back to Rome. We could grab a quick lunch or coffee, use the restroom, etc. It was perfect!
The day was truly the highlight of our trip and we will never forget how happy, and thankful we were for visiting such a beautiful place.
Please, if you have the chance, book this tour!! I can guarantee that if you take the cable car and the boat ride on the island, you will have a wonderful time and bring home so many happy memories.
PS. Buy wine at the lunch place and bring it on board the boat for the boat ride - such a great idea that a few of us travellers did!
