Make your own way to the start point in Perissa on Santorini’s eastern coast. Meet your guide and climb aboard your electric bike, whose electrically assisted pedals make it easier to tackle hills and difficult terrain.
Put on a provided helmet and after instructions on riding your bike, set off along Santorini’s roads to explore with your guide.
Cycle first to the inland village of Emporio, set beneath Profitas Ilias mountain. Emporio’s streets wind around the Castelli, the remains of a 15th-century castle. Dip into the atmospheric lanes of this fortified quarter and visit a traditional, tucked-away coffee spot for a Greek coffee or fruit juice (own expense).
Back on your bike, glide through wine country to Megalochori, one of the island’s loveliest villages, famous for its wine production. Here, enjoy a wine tasting at one of Santorini’s oldest wineries, and then trace an old road to the clifftops for spectacular views over the caldera.
Having admired the views, travel to the hillside coastal village of Akrotiri, believed by some to have inspired Plato’s story of Atlantis. Peek inside the ruined medieval castle and visit Akrotiri’s showpiece — the excavated remnants of what was once a thriving Minoan village.
After inspecting the ruined ancient houses and streets, head for Vlychada, home to the Tomato Industrial Museum, a quaint center dedicated to Santorini’s cherry-sized tomato, cultivated on the island since the 1800s.
View the exhibits to discover how this much-loved product has been grown and made into rich tomato paste by the islanders, and then follow coastal roads past Perivolos back to Perissa. Your tour then concludes with a refreshing drink at Perissa beach.
