Meet your guide in Piazza Matteotti in front of Cagliari Train Station and hop aboard the coach to begin exploring pre-historic Sardinia. Journey north to Monte Arci, where your first stop is at the Museum of Obsidian in Pau, and discover the history of the volcanic glass, which has been mined in the region since pre-historic times. Complement your visit with a drive through the dramatic obsidian landscapes of Monte Arci – the largest of its kind in the Mediterranean.
Take a break for lunch (own expense) and sample some typical Sardinian cuisine in the park's forest, before continuing to Senis. Here, you’ll spend time admiring the Domus de Janas or ‘Fairy Houses’, a series of 14 pre-Nuragic chamber tombs. Hear how there are more than 2,000 such tombs dotted around the island from your guide as you explore the remarkably preserved site.
Continue to Giara of Siddi plateau to visit the Sa Fogaia nuragh and admire its striking hilltop position. Finally, stop to marvel at more archeological wonders, the Tomba dei Giganti di Is Concias and Sa Domu e S'Orcu and hear how they earned their unusual name, the ‘Giant’s Graves’ and ‘Ogre’s House’.
After a full day uncovering the secrets of Sardinia’s past, return to Cagliari to end your tour back in Piazza Matteotti.
