It's nice to see the snow monkeys during winter but I find the walk path very unsafe most especially for children and seniors. They should put precautionary measures such as rails on the walk path as it was slippery and wet during winter. It's like an accident waiting to happen to anyone.

Definitley the highlight of our trip to Tokyo! I would recommend this activity to individuals and families who are looking to enjoy nature.

A thoroughly enjoyable trip. Well organised and good instructions to get the train to Nagano by yourself, time to look around the temple and surrounding shops, tasty Japanese lunch and then amazing trip to see the monkeys. The walk through the forest is a little slippery, but beautiful.

Overall the trip was a pleasant way to spend the day. The tickets for the bullet train were somewhat confusing as we had never ridden the train before. The guide did not seem to know much about the Zenko-ji Temple so that portion of the tour was not very interesting. Lunch was extremely good. The walk to the Snow Monkey Park was very icy and at times dangerous. The distance was not difficult but if the bus could have parked at the actual lot so we did not have to walk on the road up to the parking lot it would not have been as icy. The monkeys were really the stars of the show.

We had a wonderful guide, who kept everyone on track. I thought the day MAY have felt rushed, but in fact it was perfectly timed. The Snow Monkeys came out to play as well. Sturdy snow boots are definitely a must in winter.

Our group was small 6 people total, the tour guide was just lovely, and the monkeys were a delight. Lunch was tasty and filling, the train was relatively easy to navigate, and the tour was smooth from start to finish. I would highly recommend. In particular I think our guide was perfect for this trip: low key, informative but unobtrusive, and helpful at every step.

Small trek out to see monkeys...initial small climb of some steps nothing to worry about thou... trek levels out and if icy just take your time...its through trees and parallel with the river which just gives you a feel good factor... Seeing monkeys especially youngsters play around Will make you smile guaranteed...The temple experience is worth seeing as its very important in Japan... From my own point of view once you have seen one temple you have seen them all...but maybe that's just me... Lunch was amazing as a Westerner who thrives on junk food...it was a pleasure to eat healthy for once... and I enjoyed every mouthful... Travelling by bullet train is a must for anyone visiting Japan... All in all this tour does Exactly what it says on the packet... Enjoy ....We did...

While I love this experience there needs to be more said about how strenuous it is. There are many places with stairs only (200+ for the day) and steep inclines walking to trains and at park. My mom is 68 and walks w/ cane and it was very difficult for her to make it. Our tour guide helped a lot!
