This 3-hour food tour of Toronto is perfect for people who love to dine on pig-inspired dishes. During this tour, travel around three restaurants and a butcher shop to learn about ethical farming, and get the chance to sample three tastings of food made from pigs. Walk away with more knowledge about the city’s history and how it came across its nickname.
  • 3-hour food tour of Toronto’s Hogtown history
  • Visit three restaurants to taste different pig-inspired dishes
  • Taste a peameal bacon sandwich, Toronto’s signature sandwich
  • Stop by a local butcher shop to learn about ethical farming
  • Get to know why Toronto’s history and why it’s nicknamed Hogstown
This 3-hour tour departs at 2 p.m. from outside the front of the Hockey Hall of Fame on Yonge Street. Make sure to meet your group and guide a little bit before the departure time.

From the Hockey Hall of Fame, head toward the St. Lawrence Market. There’s a nearby restaurant you’ll go into to try one of Toronto’s signature sandwiches, a peameal bacon sandwich. Listen to the history of this sandwich in the area, and learn why pigs are so important to the city.

Move on to King Street West and Queen Street to visit a butcher shop. Learn about organic and ethical farming as you get a behind-the-scenes look at the butcher shop.

Continue on to two more restaurants. At one, try a classic Canadian dish with a pig-inspired kick. At the second, taste a type of German street food with a bit of American flavor.

Your tour ends at about 5 p.m. at King Street West near Bathurst Street.

An excellent tour. Fabulous way to learn about the city. Food was great, make sure you don't have lunch before the tour, so you can fit it all in! Tim was very knowledgeable.

The porchetta was one of the best things we ever ate in our lives! Definitely make sure the St. Lawrence Market will be open when you go, because it has a fascinating history that we would never have known without the tour guide. We did wish there was a plan for getting back to the starting spot because it was a long walk, on our own. And it started raining. If that problem were solved it would be a 5 star tour.

Great fun, good food and a terrific group. The Guide knows his Toronto and the stops for food are well organised and worthwhile. I'd have liked more history about Toronto and Hog Town but his memories of growing up in Windsor were pleasant enough. Unfortunately the Market was closed as we took the tour on Sunday Tip Don't take the tour on Sunday!. We ended up at Wurst later than advertised as the venue was closed at our ETA as it was hosting a Wedding tip don't take the tour if one of the stops is hosting a wedding! The Guide happily added an hour of his time to the Tour. Gave us a good framework to continue our personal exploration of Toronto.
