The list of “pick up and drop off” stops is NOT accurate. The lady on the phone was incredibly rude and I asked to speak with a manager. He was of course unavailable but was supposed to call me back.... he never did. This is actually “Old Town Trolley Tours” which our hotel was a stop that was not listed! Would have saved a lot of time if we didn’t spend our morning walking to what was supposed to be a stop that actually is not (even though it’s listed on the sheet)
The bus was incredibly busy and probably overbooked but it mostly did the job. Probably wouldn’t book this particular one again.
Drivers do a good job of narrating the route, but the cheesy jokes and one liners get old. Glad for the Arlington Tour option, but wish we had skipped the water taxi. We thought we were getting a duck boat tour...not a ferry ride. No "tour guides." Buses not air conditioned/open window. Arlington shuttle drivers were not friendly.
We spent 5 hours at the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture. When we left we were tired but definitely wanted to see more of DC. We got on the trolley near the museum and saw even more than we had anticipated. Don't expect to get a good view of the white house from the trolley. But you can always hop off to walk closer and catch the next trolley. The trolley was clean and the tour guide was very informative with a great sense of humor. I highly recommend this trolley tour for those that wear themselves out but still want their trip to be worth it.
This tour was great! We left on a very nice charter bus and our tour guide Deon gave a lot of great information on the way to Mt. Vernon. On the way to Mt Vernon we stopped at George Washington’s church. We were given a lot of info and were able to tour the church and grounds. We even got to sit in George Washington’s booth in the church. When we reached Mt Vernon we had some time to look around before our tour of Washington’s house. It was amazing to see where our Founding Father lived and died. After the tour we had time to walk the grounds to see the beautiful views, Washington’s grave, and tour the museum of his life. We ate at the cafeteria because we wanted something simple and quick but would’ve loved to eat the restaurant. I felt the amount of time there was perfect. It’s so nice to be able to just park and get on the bus. We can enjoy the sites and get info about them without the hassle of driving through the traffic. Definitely recommend!!!
This was the worse purchase I have ever made and I will never use this site again
, May 2019
The purchase had extra perks such as the water taxi and moonlight tour. I had to pay again for the water taxi this perk was no good. Because of time constraints I was unable to do the moonlight tour. The trolly service stops at 5:00pm and we had to beg for a ride to get back to the wharf to catch the water taxi or pay more money. The trolly service was not helpful and if I hadn’t insisted on them answering my questions I would have found out what I did. I learned a valuable lesson and I will never use this site again. This was a waste of $170.00.
I highly recommend the hop on hop off trolly. We did it for two days to get around the city. The drivers/tour guides are highly knowledgeable about DC and it’s history. Arlington Cemetery was a somber tour, but it was our honor to visit and pay our respects. The changing of the guard ceremony was very nice. And I recommend the water taxi trip. It was a very nice relaxing time after the hustle and bustle of the city.
Fantastic way to travel around and taking in all the sites. Trolley drivers were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. No issues getting a seat at any time. Took the shuttle bus to Arlington, again, driver very informative, you could spend a lot of hours here so using the trolley service is ideal to cover the vast area in a shorter time. Guided tour gave insightful facts that you would never have known by just walking around by yourself. The major sites such as Washington Monument, Capitol Hill and Lincoln Memorial, etc, are further apart than you think! also with the heat! The trolley gets you around effortlessly and lets you find your bearings!
This was a great experience. We used the hop-on hop-off for multiple days and ended up purchasing the night trolley tour as well. Each driver was friendly, kind, funny and full of knowledge. I will definitely be using Viator again!
Worst decision we made during our week long trip. I should of saved my money.
Not worth the cost. Use a Uber to get to Arlington instead and save your money they advertise as the only tour to Arlington well it is a nightmare to get the shuttles they provide to and from. They did not give any information as to how to tour Arlington we had to figure it out on our own. It is a free for all to get on shuttles and there is no order or line. If you are first in line and the shuttle stops on curb below you then people in back can rush and get on first leaving you standing and waiting. Took my family of 3, two hours of waiting to board.
The city trolley ride was informative and all the drivers were very kind or so we thought until we rode it again and realized the information was not the same from driver to driver and when we asked at some of the attractions about the information we realized a lot of it was inaccurate.
Only positive thing to me was that the drivers seemed to all be kind people.
