Why Travellers Choose This Tour
In just one day, explore some of Switzerland’s most scenic Alpine areas, plus the tiny country of Liechtenstein.
Greet your expert guide at a central Zurich location and climb aboard an air-conditioned coach for a panoramic tour of Zurich, a city considered Switzerland’s cultural capital. Admire the rich architectural array and hear tales of Zurich’s prosperous past before travelling the Rapperswil, a charming medieval town known as the ‘City of Roses’. On arrival, marvel at the towering turrets of the medieval castle and then enjoy some leisurely free time to explore independently. Return to your vehicle and capture panoramic photographs of the Alps as you cross the Ricken Pass and arrive in Toggenberg, a gorgeous region replete with swooping valleys and beautiful mountain scenery. Next, cross the border to Vaduz, capital of the minute Principality of Liechtenstein, and spend more leisurely free time discovering the charm of the city. Visit the Post Office to catch a glimpse of its highly prized stamps and then return to the coach for the short journey to Maienfield, the stunning setting of the Heidi stories. Take a pleasant stroll to a collection of mountain houses and absorb incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Opt to visit the Heidi House at your own expense and then gaze at the picturesque banks of Lake Walen as you travel back to Zurich by coach. Please note: In wintertime, visit the quaint village of Werdenberg instead of Maienfeld.
This tour felt extremely average to me with a few things that could be improved. The "city tour" could easily be skipped to give more time in Liechtenstein which felt extremely shortchanged. Additionally, the guide felt like he was just there to take us from one place to another rather than actually give us information about what we saw.
Also, as a heads up, Heidiland is quite small and all can be seen in less than half an hour even if you pay extra to go inside the house. It is absolutely gorgeous but there's not much to see to the actual attraction itself.
I'm glad I got to check off a place from my budget list, but I probably could have done it better on my own than with this tour.
We opted for this tour to avoid figuring out what to do on a Sunday in Zurich when most places are not open. It was a great option. The tour begins with a driving tour of the city. There's a stop at a castle, a break for lunch and then on to Liechtenstein. The breaks (except for lunch) can be a little rushed but were overall sufficient. Our guide was excellent. She told stories and provided background and was great to listen to as we drove along. She also provided enough information so that we knew what to expect next. The area at Heidiland is beautiful, even if you aren't interested in the Heidi story. Price of the tour is very reasonable, especially considering the prices of anything in Zurich. Bus was well air conditioned and comfortable and tour left on time and arrived back on time. Definitely recommend this tour.
It was an awesome tour with stunning nature through out the way.I felt like the we have seen the peeks of God created beautiful Nature.Guide Peter was so nice/understanding/kind accompanied by the so polite driver Richard.Kudos to both of you.
A fabulous day. You get to do so much more when you are with a group. Our guide and driver were top of the class. Switzerland is so beautiful that you dare not fall asleep on the bus as there is always something more to see. Our guide Walter was engaging throughout and his vast experience and love of his job shone through. We had exactly enough time everywhere and it all went so smooth. Well done to those who put the itinerary together.
We had several couples traveling on this excursion and everyone liked it. The check in was easy and the guides were very helpful. We felt we had enough time at each of the stops. The scenery we passed on the trip was very beautiful and made the trip special.
Great tour guide and driver but the trip felt rushed. The coach was new and had air con. The tour of Zürich was short and we didn't really see as much as we could have. It felt a bit like we just went from the train station and around the block before leaving to go to Rapperswil. The tour was more about the banking buildings and economy than history. Rapperswil was gorgeous but although it mentioned the castle it didn't mention the many, many steps to get up there. The tour of the castle and Rapperswil seemed rushed and short (30 mins)and
we didn't have free time for the other 45 mins as we were ushered into a cafe where the guide got free lunch if he brought a group in. I'd taken sandwiches as lunch hadn't been mentioned but was ushered to sit and felt pressured to buy something. There were deer and rose gardens which we rushed through. We then went to Liechtenstein which was lovely and the views as we drove up and around the mountains were incredible. We only really saw the castle and a tourist shop. I walked a little further but only because I needed a bathroom and the guide had disappeared! We only had 45 mins in Liechtenstein. We then drove up to Heidiland and again were rushed to make the walk (the coach can't park at Heidi's house so another little hike in the 32°c heat!) because we were late. It was 4.50pm by then. We got 30 mins to visit the house (an extra 9 Swiss Francs not included in the £70 ticket!). The house was small and the area was compact. We fed the mountain goats. It was quaint and pretty with fresh clean air and great views. I think it's a little overpriced, very rushed and the tour of Heidi's house should be included. The walking, hills and steps should definitely be mentioned. There was no itinerary or mention of the on board toilet on the coach. The advert didn't mention no eating on the bus and no itinerary at the start meant that I didn't know when we'd stop so I could eat something (I'm diabetic so plan my meals). We arrived back in Zürich 30 mins late.
