Willow, originally Alaska's largest gold mining district, is now the official home of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race Start. The love of dog mushing in Willow makes it an ideal location for winter recreation. Local trails are maintained daily, providing the best possible conditions for Fat Tire Biking. Our fat tire bikes are studded and designed to handle winter riding conditions. We provide high quality equipment and winter gear to keep you warm so you can enjoy the experience. Along with the Iditarod Trail, there are nice wide maintained trails and scenic lake loops that make for a fun ride. Afterward, drive to Talkeetna, often cited as the town the show Northern Exposure was based on. Enjoy a tasty lunch at the Roadhouse, and stroll around the picturesque town, getting a great view of Denali when it’s visible. Around 5 pm, you’ll catch the train back to Anchorage and will then be transferred to your hotel.
