Kotagiri is a hill station in Niligiris District situated at the height of 5,890 feet. Most of the trekking trails are unexplored in this region due to its connectivity to Nilgiri Range which is prohibited to outsiders by forest department. The pleasant weather and fluctuating temperatures add up to the beauty of this place. The trail starts in the tea estates and continues down the valley on the river - path to end at Mettupalayam - Kotagiri junction. The major attractions near Kotagiri include the Catherine Falls, Elk Falls, Doddabetta Peak and the Rangaswami Pillar. Catherine falls is the second highest waterfall in Nilgiri Mountains after Kolakambai Falls.
Kurangani Hills near Bodi in Theni district is a perfect place for trekkers as well as nature enthus. The 12 km hike from Kurangani village to Top Station through Central village is a journey to be cherished. The trekking route here is covered with the dense woods and plain grasslands of Kurangani Hills.Although, Kurangani Hill is near the famous Kolukkumalai Hills, which is the highest place for tea plantation in the world at an altitude close to 8,000 feet , the place is still not known in the tourism circuit. However, several foreign tourists do come here. Some nature lovers within the state also frequently visit Kurangani Hills. Film-makers too have been charmed by the nature here.

Kunti Betta is a rocky hill situated 125 kms from Bangalore, in the quaint village of Pandavapura. The hill features paths that take you over huge boulders and rocks which gets steeper the further you ascend. From the peak, you will get splendid views of the Pandavapura lake and sugarcane fields. The Pandavapura village and Kunti Betta are part of many historical folk tales that date back to the Mahabharatha. It is said that when the Pandavas were sent into exile, they stayed here for a short while and their mother Kunti fell in love with the hill, thus christening it Kunti Betta.

The total trek distance is approximately 5 km one way and takes nearly 2 hours. Trekking in Moon light is a delight as there will be beautiful moon night and cold biting wind kissing strained skin.

Makalidurga is located around 60 km from Bangalore near Doddaballapur on the way to Gauribidanur, making it perfect for a quick getaway. The easy trail makes it a popular spot for trekking, rappelling and other adventure activities. The scenery from Makalidurga hill is spectacular as you can see a panoramic view of the lake below bathed in golden light.

Kaurava Kunda is a lesser-known destination located at Chikkaballapur in Hariharapura village at a distance of 75 km from Bengaluru. This is a twin hill with one peak called “Kaurava betta” and another one as “Pandava betta”. Kauravas represents the descendants of Kuru clan, which includes Pandavas as well and hence the name Kaurava Kunda.
There is an ancient Shiva temple on the way to the peak. Once you reach the top, you can get stunned by the mesmerizing view of Nandi Hills and Skandagiri Hills, with clouds beneath you. The feeling is amazing with the adrenaline rushing down when the sun is rising up.
It is a fun and challenging trek around Bangalore as we have to undertake a steep climb and pass through sandy paths, thorns, shrubs to reach the peak of Kaurava Kunda. This hike is a bit slippery when rained.
