Wentworth Falls is a charming town located in the Blue Mountains Heritage Site about 60 miles (100 kilometers) west from Sydney. Known for its eponymous waterfalls, the town has a number of walking and hiking trails, picnic and BBQ areas, a well-preserved Aboriginal site, and a charming downtown with historic buildings and gourmet coffee shops.

The Basics
Visitors often come to Wentworth Falls for the beautiful bushwalks. The Charles Darwin Walk takes hikers past Jamison Creek to the famous Wentworth Falls and its crystal-clear water. The historic Grandview Hotel, local art galleries, coffee shops, and ample picnic and BBQ spots also draw visitors to the village.

  • The Charles Darwin Trail to Wentworth Falls can be very steep in parts; wear appropriate clothing and be prepared for a rigorous climb.

How to Get There
Wentworth Falls is located in the Blue Mountains about 60 miles (100 kilometers) west of Sydney. It’s easily reachable by car in 90 minutes, or by taking a 2-hour train ride on the Blue Mountain Line from central Sydney.

When to Get There
Wentworth Falls is open to the public year round. The Blue Mountains are sometimes affected by bushfires in the summer and can be wet in winter months.

Kings Table
Also known as the Ingar Picnic Ground, Kings Table is a preserved Aboriginal site that also serves s a popular spot to have a picnic. The land has been carbon dated, and the area is thought to have been inhabited as far back as 22,000 years ago. It’s recognized as traditional land of the Gundungurra people, and contains remnants of cave paintings and rock engravings.
