Skellig Boat Tour. Dingle Bay, Co Kerry. Guided. 3.5 hours.

Departing from Dingle Harbour, this is a once in a lifetime trip to one of Irelands three UNESCO world heritage sites. Rising majestically from the sea, the magnificent Skellig Michael is a twin-pinnacle crag 11.6 kilometres west of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. The island is named after the archangel Michael, while the word "Skellig" is derived from the Gaelic sceilig, meaning a splinter of stone. Skellig Michael is topped by a sixth century monastic settlement, justifiably famous in its own right, but now known worldwide as the refuge of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars movies. Skellig Michael is home to large variety of seabirds including thousands of Atlantic Puffins. The nearby Little Skellig island is home to 70,000 Gannets making it the second largest gannet colony in the world. Watch out for playful dolphins that love to ride the boat’s bow wave and a variety of other resident and visiting sea mammals.

Dingle Peninsula Hike - 8 Day Self-Guided Tour

There is so much to discover and conquer within ‘Dingle’ that it really has to be seen in all of its glory to be believed.  Because of its remote location – and lack of specialised agriculture – it is steeped in ancient Irish history and spectacularly shaped by the ravages of the Atlantic Ocean.  As you hike the Dingle Way (also known as the Kerry Camino) you will leave the county town of Tralee & follow to the southern shores to reach Dingle Bay, the magnificent Inch Beach and on to Dingle town.  Your return journey back to Tralee, takes you to the northern shores with the impressive Brandon range of mountains beckoning you as you discover more of the remarkable history that this land is so famous for.  We invite you to lose yourself in this magnificent landscape and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Dolphin Watching Trip. Dingle Bay, Co Kerry. Guided. 1 hour.

History of "Fungie": In 1984, Paddy Ferriter, the Dingle Harbour lighthouse keeper, first began watching a lone wild dolphin escort the town's fishing boats to and from port. By August of that year, local Ministry of Marine manager Kevin Flannery was able to officially record the dolphin as a "permanent" resident of the entrance channel and self-appointed "pilot" of the fleet. "Fungie" Facts: The Dingle Dolphin or Fungie - the name given to him by the fishermen - is a fully grown, middle aged, male bottlenose. He weighs in at around one-quarter tonne (500 lbs.) and measures in the region of four metres (13 feet). He is estimated be under 40 years old and could have a lifespan of 50 to 60 years.
