Cruise the Ayeyarwady River between Mandalay and Bagan, trading uncomfortable overland travel for a beautiful day on the water. Pause to explore a riverside village, join the crew for an introduction to traditional clothes and adornments, then sip a drink as you watch an Ayeyarwady River sunset. This tour includes the option to add breakfast and lunch on board, with trips available both from Mandalay to Bagan, and upstream from Bagan to Mandalay.
Start our day from Mandalay by boat, sailing up on the Ayeyarwaddy river to villages north of Mandalay. These fresh water dolphins were firstly found in Irrawaddy River (now Ayeyarwaddy) and they were named as "Irrawaddy dolphins".Cooperative fishing between these dolphins and the local fisherman is an aged old technique, passing from generation to generation. It is for sure that there is a strong attachment and understanding between the fisherman and the dolphin and that is what you are going to witness and enjoy. After meeting the fishermen and the dolphins, community lunch will be served at a local village. We will experience and enjoy authentic Myanmar food and the village life of the local people there.Last, but not least, this tour program is supporting the life of the villagers and the fisherman who are doing cooperative fishing with dolphins, so that they will continue supporting conservation and protection of these endangered species.
